Did you dig it all up and flog off the brass, at least it would help to reduce your expenses for the day.

I bet you weren't expecting to find them when your detector went off
BTW nice shovel, I have the same one :)

Those were all blanks.

Hey Nacha, I did get pretty excited when I realized how big the cache of blanks was. I've never found anything remotely similar.

Subyroo, since I wasn't too sure of the stability of the rusty blanks I just reburied 99% of them. I figured I could do a little research on how handle them and go back for them if it made sense. I don't have a 30-06 but could maybe fab up something to fire the blanks i quess. If the shtf then I def know where to get 30-06 brass to trade/sell.:icon wink:

Turbo, I was poking around in an old target range for the military, I'm hoping to find all kinda stuff.. And yep that lil shovel was part of my recovery kit but has been perfect for md'ing. I picked up another very similar one to leave in the Foz permanently.

04tone, been detecting much lately? Pics of your finds?:poke:

Here's a few of my recent finds. I've yet to find anything of real $$ value, but damn I'm sore from digging holes!:rotfl:

The American Legion piece is bronze. The 3 odd pcs to the left of the Amer. legion pc are possibly camp lead, I went back recently and recovered another large pc, kinda cool to think about the way they got there.

Old shotgun shell headstamps, some I've found are from 1885-1935 era.

Does the Legion piece have a date stamped on it anywhere?

The American Legion piece was a great find I say.

As for the soreness from digging these hole, just think of it as fitness & muscle building instead :)

myo4tone....are you happy with your detector??? I have been looking at that one for next year when I start to get a bit more serious about my new set up. I reckon I would do much more treasure hunting than gold detecting and this seemed like a good one.

Hey Silver

i have 4 detectors :iconwink:

Garrett AT Pro (coin and relic) Best bang for your buck detector going around, they now cost $1000AU if you buy in Aussie, some are available from the USA for about $700.

Minelab CTX3030 (coin and relic) whoa what a machine, but your paying for the privilege, $2600AU, doesnt come without some faults.

Tesoro Tejon (coin and relic) turn it on, ground balance and go, i got mine for $500 with 3 extra coils, i love this little detector to bits.

Minelab SD2200V2 is a primarily a gold detector i have found some brilliant relics with, its a PI meaning pulse induction, i got this for a song and refurbished it.

I am adding to my list a Minelab Excalibur II underwater and beach, i intend to done the neoprene snorkel and goggles next summer.
