Central locking & remote & done lights not working

Now I just have to reprogram the key so that it recognizes it

How is the key re-programmed to the lock?

After checking over at subaruforester.org there's a few ways of doing it by the sounds of things.
Just have to work out which one works for mine
Well I tried a few different ways as suggested & no go :yell:
So off to the dealer I go :o

The guy behind the counter says thats easy :iconwink: give me a second & I'll do it for you. Did you bring both keys ? :)

He opens the car & tries to re-programmed it  Doesn't work :o
Gets the other key & tries that, still doesn't work
So he grabs 2 new (Panasonic) batteries & replaces them for me  For free  Yes thats right they gave & replaced my key batteries for free

He tries again & still no go :bcool:

So he goes & grabs one of the other workers, who does it in under 10 seconds :p
Turns out he was pressing the button the wrong way
Oops

Anyway, this is how it's done.

Behind the kickplate panel on the right on the drivers side there are 2 white plugs. Just join them together.
Then press & hold the central locking button on the drivers door to unlock.
Whilst holding the button on the door, press the lock button on the key twice.
Now let the door button go.
And it's done, it's re-programmed :discomonkey:

EDIT: Don't forget to unplug the 2 white plugs when finished. END EDIT

Re-programming keyless entry unit in Forester

Gidday Mr T

I have added some tags to the thread and added this to my Favourites in IE.

Good work mate, and a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new one, having it fitted, then ALL THAT WORK Subaru would have had to do to re-program it ... I wonder what they would have charged for that part?

A good outcome for you all round.

AND we all get to know the process for re-programming keys and the keyless entry unit ... :).

I'm just glad it's over & done with & all fixed

The past couple of weeks has been a PITA while unlocking & then re-locking the doors when you need something. Especially the back ones :lildevil:

I'm having a similar problem with my central locking not working, and have tried the usual( key battery, fuses, relays). Is there a way I can check the functioning of the Module? Many thanks matt
