Central locking & remote & done lights not working

As a next step, I would disconnect the driver door controls and then see if the remote works. This will determine if the short is in the door. I think you would just have to remove the front smaller plug - be very carefull to release the tabs on these plugs otherwise the wires will pull out!

Also, make sure a button is not stuck down on the remotes.

With a huge assistance from Kevin :bananatoast: it looks like we have isolated what the problem is :)
It appears to be the Keyless Entry Module, as everything kept pointing back to that :iconwink:

I'm going to have an electronic guru friend (whom I work with) test a few things on it (module) to make sure thats what the problem is.
I should hopefully have an answer in a few days time :raz:

On a different note, a coolant leak was also found :o so it looks like a new radiator is going to be on the cards aswell :sadbanana:

Once again, I'd like to say a big thank you to Kevin, for all his help today :yourock:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Glad to hear you've got it sorted mate.
Thanks mate.
Even though we're not 100% sure, (just 99.9%) it all looks good

However, once I've had it tested, if it's not the problem, it will be back to square 1.

But after looking & checking everything else today, it has to be what the problem is.

Regards
Mr Turbo

I changed the radiator in my Forrie and found genuine was cheapest.

I remember reading about that & was quite surprised to hear that at the time.

If I recall correctly, you had a bit of a wait too, as there were none in the country at the time & had to wait for one to be sent.

Thanks for the heads up Rally

It was Christmas time- maybe things might be better now

:woohoo: Glad you've got it pretty much, almost figured out.:iconwink:

Sorry to hear about the radiator, but better now than having it let out all the steam in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks carljwnc :) And yes, better to find out about it now, rather than when I'm out bushbashing somewhere :iconwink:

All in all, I'm actually surprised that I haven't killed my Forry yet, especially with the places I go to & how hard I play in it

Lets hope it is the module. Not sure if they're repairable, lets hope so...

Thats for sure!

Hahaha :monkeydance::rotfl:

Well after all that work, the ''thing" we pulled out, isn't it & not what we thought it was :yell:
So I'm not :censored: happy :furious:

This was discovered after talking to one of the spare parts workers at Subaru today, when I was getting a price for the new radiator (which is going to be a 2 week wait)

On the good side, it looks like I have located where the key less unit is actually located :)

I'll have a closer look tomorrow after work, when I have more time :iconwink:

If I am looking at the drawing correctly, it's not on the drivers side as we thought, but on the passenger side, instead

Mr Turbo

So what is the "thing" we pulled?
We're getting a little personal there aren't we :rotfl:
Only joking :iconwink:

That "thing" we took out was called a "belt timer"

keylessentrypicsmall.jpg

The key less unit is the small white box near the top of the pic (below)

Now that I have found the "key less unit" I can try a few more things, to see if I can get it working.
The first thing I'm going to try is the relays, to see if it's them thats the problem :)

Mr Turbo

and to think - we "almost" looked behind the glovebox after reading conflicting locations. OK - so what does the "belt timer" do?

I don't have a clue

I'm just wondering if it has something to do the seat belt pretensioner ?
IE: Where the seat belt retracts in the event of an accident.

Mr Turbo

Crikey! I hope you find the problem before you dismantle the car lol :rotfl:

Seriously, it sounds like a real little gremlin! :furious:

Dont stress, every thing it isnt is one step closer to what it is...if you get my meaning
I know what you mean mate & thank you
What's that old saying... it's always in the last place you look or the final box you open ;)

Crikey! I hope you find the problem before you dismantle the car lol :rotfl:
Me too
I'm starting to feel like the bloke in the Super Cheap commercial :rotfl:

OK. From what I can determine, the "seat belt timer" looks like the control for the seat belt warning light.
