Funny/Interesting stuff you see on YouTube

great vids Taza, esp the one of the Patrol floating away downriver. He eventually made it tho lol

I love watching the big 4x4s drowning, butI'm not so sure bout our lil Subies :(

Well NL In the trip we have together in the future (lol), you can lead then I'll follow. I don't really want to drown over $1000 worth of stereo in my car...

The Chasers order everything on the menu at McDonald's :rotfl:

Only in Australia... :raspberry:

Gidday Taza

Therein lies the problem, whether with our Subarus, or with a $120K LC, or any other modern vehicle of this kind.

The day the manufacturers started putting other than loose rubber floor mats and open sprung seats in their vehicles was the end of the go-everywhere, off road vehicle. They will be ruined by complete immersion, and whole lots of other lesser mishaps.

My 1968 LC would treat this sort of treatment with equanimity!

Again, nothing like the C49 Jeeps on both our properties in Qld. Great little vehicles. Flaming near indestructible.

Would I want to drive either of them on a public road (even if they had decent road tyres fitted - they didn't - full bar lugs all round ... )?
No way, José!

But do anything too "adventurous" in our cars, and they will sustain serious damage :(.

^ Thats very true Ratbag. They certainly do have limits. I now use mine for more Rally Cross/ Fun driving style. Drifting, sliding, hill climbs, etc... That's more what they are suited for. Abit of mud sliding and beach work they are good at too, but that's really it for my beast ;)
This is also my reasoning behind wanting a turbo swap in it, to make it awesome at this stuff :)

There is always someone stupid enough to try anything ...
You got that right Ratbag :eviltoyou:
As for the person in the floating Patrol, what a :censored: idiot :shake:

The other vid with Kevin is a beauty.
And yes, I did that water crossing aswell :iconwink:
I still remember it like it was yesterday.

To answer your question Nachaluva, the last thing I'd be worried about are the electronics to a Subi for that crossing. I'd be more about not packing the oars that'd be needed when you started to float down stream

Yes he did make it. But I would have to consider him to be lucky.

With the water flowing the way it was & at that speed, it could so easily have gone all pear shaped.

I would still say the driver was an idiot !!

I have always used, as a rule of thumb, that if you can't stand up & wade across a water crossing on foot, then it is not in your best interest (or safe) to attempt it.

Again that is only my opinion & will stand by it.
However, if others have a different opinion, thats fine.

It's probably best for me, personally (in my position) to leave it there.

Mr Turbo

Well, he DID make it to the other side and out of the water by himself :lildevil:

Kudos to him for making it...was it perseverance or was he s**t scared he was gonna drown lol :rotfl:

He was almost up s**t creek without a paddle haha :rotfl:

Having a strong kayaking history in water from only a few feet deep to roaring floods, I can tell you fast flowing water is a killer! That river was moving reasonably fast...fast enough that at only half that depth there is NO WAY a person could stand. If the small surface area of a couple of legs is enough to sweep you away, imagine what the side of a car would do.

As Mr.T said...he was very, very lucky! :shake:

Mr T: I agree entirely with you. He's an idiot. I was part surprised, part impressed & part pissed off that it didn't end up being a lesson for him

I also agree with you on that Fly :iconwink:
Perhaps he did learn a lesson or two, once he opened the doors on the other side

Some of you may have seen this before, but I thought it was brilliant & had to share it here.

As they say, never :censored: with mother nature :eviltoyou:

Nice landing though. I'd have to give it about a 7 out of 10. At least they landed on their feet :p

Or, as they say in the USA, Mother Nature's a Mother ****er ...

Good reason for having a car that weighs a tad more than a shopping trolley, I guess! :poke:  :rotfl:

I've been through cyclones like that at Mooloolaba back in the early 1960s.
Scary!
Steady winds of about 130 mph.
Rain hitting the windows like the drops were .50 cal. HMG projectiles ...

That is absolutely brilliant :quitar::quitar::quitar:

A bit like a Ken Block vid but with a push bike instead of a car :woohoo:
