Baby it's HOT OUTSIDE!!!

Saw these bushfires on the news this morning. Brings back bad memories. Did they have fire bans in place? Not that it deters the arsonists.

I remember one new years day being 47 degrees C and I was not at all impressed.

Yeah, burn bans are in effect in about 98% of the state. Only a couple coastal counties down by Mexico aren't in a burn ban. Heads are going to roll if they find the people responsible. Homes lost now are up to 1,400. We ran across a family who's home burned down in Bastrop last night when my wife & I were out jogging. Pretty sad to say the least.

I wouldn't be so sure about the heads rolling.. :madred:

I know this isn't quite the same scale of disaster, but remember the Wallow Fire in AZ and NM back in May/July, largest ever for the state? "cost to fight the fire exceeded $79 million. The blaze, in a popular recreational destination in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona, consumed 32 homes, four commercial buildings, 36 outbuildings, and charred more than 538,000 acres of lush wilderness in Arizona and into parts of western New Mexico."

They have now charged a southern Arizona man and his cousin for starting it, "They are charged with "causing timber to burn, leaving a fire unattended and unextinguished, leaving a fire without completely extinguishing it, causing and failing to maintain control of a fire and building a campfire without removing all flammable material from around the campfire adequate to prevent its escape....Each count carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison, a $5,000 fine or both."

that's all
????:mob:

If they love fires so much, why not tie them to a tree in the path of a raging bushfire and see if it really is s enthralling as they say.

Yeah DXD, i remember those. I think those started right about the time or just before all our fires in west texas started that burned a few million acres. Like you said, the thing that sucked the most about that fire is that it was absolutely beautiful country that burned. Out in west TX, i'm not sure how all that burned cause there's not much out there!
I don't think they'll get off that easy over here, but i'm surprised Gov. Brewer doesn't do what Rally mentioned above! She's got bigger cajones than our prez!

Just when we thought we were done with the heat, it blew up again over the weekend through today.. so far. Just hit our 97th day of triple digits. Tomorrow is suppose to be about the same. We'll see if we hit 100 days.
What a far cry from the previous record of 69 days of triple digits for out here, especially when our usual is only 12 days.

It really messes with your head :shake:

Dang, I figured y'all must have cooled off by now, how about rain and the fires??? Hopefully the fires are out, or at least under control and you've gotten some rain to help keep them from flaring up or new ones starting.

Had some rain about a week and a half ago for the first time in months. Less than an inch of rain, but was still welcomed. Nothing since then.
That little bit of rain did help slow the big Bastrop fire that's destroyed nearly 1600 homes. I heard as of this morning it's 98% contained which i'm sure is a big relief to those families out there.

atleast it will cool off again tonight & last for a couple days....

We're finally getting a few days of summer atm.

Haha Taza, i hear that! Only problem is that we're suppose to be in dead of winter up here!

Welp, we've had good rain since December which is allowing us to have a real spring! The Texas bluebonnets & indian paintbrushes are in full force! Thanks to THC on FB for the pictures.

Sweet pics!!!

Hope the rain keeps up for y'all this year...and no blistering heat for months on end.

All-time record high today! Mother nature is really laying into us before she lets up. Middle of the week, Sept 1st (usually when our weather starts to change to fall, cooler temps) they are saying highs of low 90's with rain... I hope they aren't jacking with us!
The temp gauge started off at 126, but then leveled off at 118f (47.7c), making our 82nd day of triple digits.

Well they say everything is "bigger & better" down in Texas.

Great pics mate, they are really nice.

^47 degrees, now thats what we had a week of straight earlier this year. Lets say that it was really really hot :raspberry:

Wow, 118F (47C) thats hot alright

How did your Subi handle the heat while driving that day ?

Regards
Mr Turbo

A week straight!? That's what you call hot as hell! I would lose my mind for sure. Right around the same time we had those 118f days was when my radiator finally went. With the good rain/spring we've had, i'm hoping for a mild summer for us.
