Texas Rain Gauge

Same here. It's August and even up in the mountains it was so warm I was only wearing summer work attire. Temperature in the coldest month of the year is the normal summer average. Feels weird, but after so many cold weeks it makes a change. But I still love winter!

The past 2 days have been brilliant :raz: especially compared to the wet, cold weather we've been having lately :bcool:
A little coolish in the morning, but nothing unacceptable, warming to a bright sunny day in the mid 20's (78F-80F) without a cloud in the sky

If only everyday was like that I couldn't complain :)...apart from having to miss them by going to work :bcool:
But then again, I must admit it is good having a stable job to go to :iconwink:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Man, you got that right! Sounds fantastic. Just had one of my good friends purchase a new Forester Premium, had it for a week, then took it on their trip to Red River, New Mexico. He's always been a dodge truck guy, but becoming older & wiser, he opted for something new and dependable. They took the trip to mountain bike and test it out, they loved it! They are now sold on subarus.
Anyway's, back to the reason i share this. Here the temps have been averaging 100-109, up there in the mountains is was an amazing 75-80 during the day and down in the 40s & 50s at night. Coming back, i think they both just about cried themselves to sleep. Seeing all their pictures & beating the heat inspired my wife & I to go ahead and book our stay in Red River this November, can't wait to go! Trip report to come.... Not soon enough!

It's not even a matter of "if" it hits over 100 anymore, it's more like "when it does today". Day #73 of triple digits with still no end in sight. Broke the old record of 68
Hasn't been rain in months.. I'm going to lose my mind. All these trees have shed their leaves like it's fall, either dying or just cutting back on everything they can to live.

We're up to 51 100+ days up here.. We did get some rain a few days ago, which broke our consecutive days at 100+.. It looks like we had 40 consecutive days of 100+ in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.. :shake:

That was one reason I wanted to go to Colorado.. Every morning that I was at the cabin, I woke up with forst on the car..

That sure was nice!

Just heard that 251 out of Texas' 254 counties are now under a burn ban. The only ones not on the ban yet are waaay down in the Valley, next to Mexico. Agriculture losses set a new record at $5.2 billion! Total land burned is up to 5,300 sq miles (about the size of Connecticut) with almost 17,000 fires.

We neeeeeeeeeeeeeed rain baadddddddd :madred:

All-time record high today! Mother nature is really laying into us before she lets up. Middle of the week, Sept 1st (usually when our weather starts to change to fall, cooler temps) they are saying highs of low 90's with rain... I hope they aren't jacking with us!
The temp gauge started off at 126, but then leveled off at 118f (47.7c), making our 82nd day of triple digits.

Now that is bloody hot, i would even be expecting my Foz to overheat in that. Stay cool and drink lots of water

I've run low on gas before but jezz......:discomonkey:

Nah that's pretty normal for me too - unless I'm miles from the nearest fuel stop!

Your foz will be fine Taza so long as you've been looking after the cooling system and not doing anything stupid to help over heat it!

Cheers

Bennie

I don't epect it too but if i were on the beach powering through soft sand with the aircon flat out and the car loaded with people and gear in temperature like that (45c+ degrees) i suspect she would get abit warm. Although she has never overheated or even gotten close to it yet

What a Labor Day weekend it was across central Texas! Hundreds of fires started ( thanks to the idiots who wait for the windiest/driest day of the year to light their grills & firepits). Last reported nearly 1000 homes have burned just over the last couple of days. The bad thing about these fires versus the massive ones we had earlier in the summer is that these are in more populated areas. Beautiful Bastrop state park is pretty much gone. There are several large ones only about 15 miles from here burning out in Dripping Springs. Now i hear that they are bringing in firefighters from Oregon & California to help out, along with the national guard.

This is actual footage from the wildfire in Bastrop. You can see just how fast it's actually moving.

Another pic TX parks & wildlife put up of the bastrop fire. This is the hwy i take when going home to College Station... Will def be a different trip the next time i go.

Here's a picture friend of a friend took from Northwest Austin, looking east towards the Bastrop area... Pretty insane to say the least! Reminds me of that scene from independence day where the aliens come rollin' into town.

Picture from a friend of the Home Depot in Bastrop. This is the starting point of the fire from the pic above.

Wow thats insane  The speed at which that fire was moving is very scary to say the least

My heart goes out to the poor people that have lost their homes in this disaster
My thoughts are also with those brave people who are also out there fighting those fires. May they be safe & stay safe.

Saw these bushfires on the news this morning. Brings back bad memories. Did they have fire bans in place? Not that it deters the arsonists.

I remember one new years day being 47 degrees C and I was not at all impressed.

I remember that day alright :madred:
But I remember about 2 days after it even more  (I'm sure it was the same year)

I was doing some home renovations & had to lay a slab of concrete.
As it had been pre ordered for that particular day, I was not able reschedule it for another day :furious:
The heat near enough killed both myself & a mate. It wasn't quite as hot on that day, but at 45 deg C it wasn't far off it.

Glad y'all are getting a little relief from the heat. Looks like you need some good rain, those fires are crazy!!!

Stay safe!!!
