PICTURE POST: your favorite off-road shot!

Nice Photos - Did you know your Forester has definitely proved itself off road? https://offroadsubarus.com/showpost.php?p=26142&postcount=1 (Don't know if you knew, but the numberplate triggered my memory for some reason)

i did, brought it from a dealer so had no idea who the previous owner was, turns out a close friend of my fiance's uncle. small world. i was surprised that for the work that the car has done it isn't in worse condition. not a chance the car will ever go back to its former glory just has sump guard and AT's

Small world indeed. Yeah, it looks as if it has been well maintained, was definitely a well setup car though. I think it was traded on a Discovery.

Drove it to the top of "Kennebec Pass". Co Road 124, Durango, CO. Fun drive, difficult with a 5-Speed, but my Foz made it up with no problems. HARDLY what I would consider a "four wheel drive only" trail. I passed jacked up CJ's with snorkels, and kitted out Jeeps. All crawling at 1 mph in low range avoiding the "bigger" rocks in the trail. I passed them and made it a point to pick the hardest route to prove that "Yeah, that's a Subaru station wagon that just passed you."

Anyway, got to the top and snapped this crappy pic right before a big storm hit. And YES, that is a shear cliff. The top was only wide enough for one vehicle. One side (that I climbed to take the pic) was a jagged rock face, the other side was a straight drop off. Amazing view though.

That doesnt look too crappy to me! But are you sure you couldnt have parked a little closer to the edge?:rotfl:

AWESOME! :lildevil:

Blue Fox,

That is such an amazing view and photo :) I would follow the Foz any day with Rusty ;) I hope to have the little guy back together soon so I can join in all the wheeling fun.

I'm going to say that it's 3 elements - two in the photo and one that's a common element that draws you into the image time and time again.

The two in the photo that are immediately attractive are the subaru and the snow... These are great starters.

The third element that isn't so obvious to many is the diagonal lines that naturally draws your eye back into the image. You'll notice this in a lot of really good photos - roads, cliff edges, ridge lines all do it well if framed properly ;)

Steckiewicz I really like this one of your legacy:

And here's one from the trip last week, not exposed really well for full detail, it was more about the colour and shades produced by the light:

And here's my classic one of Dulagarl, also from the above mentioned trip:

^ Who's eyes keep looking over that one multiple times? I'm still trying to wrap my head around it!

Cheers

G'day steckiewicz :welcome:

Nice shot :iconwink:

Bennie, I keep getting a sore neck looking at your upside down shot lol :rotfl: Very creative... :iconwink:

Lovely shot Blue Fox. I'd be interested in your post-processing strategy if you don't mind. I see you pushed it to +2, so I'm assuming there's some kind of HDR / exposure balancing involved?
