Rally's MY04 Forrie- Poverty Pack special

Purchased second hand. Rear diff and instrument cluster replaced under warranty. First change was to fit CB UHF GME radio. Car has externally mounted windscreen aerial bracket. Just purchased set of new KYB shock absorbers- the originals have had it- will install when they arrive. Next step is to replace standard steel rims with MY99 WRX rims. Then sump guard and driving lights.

The other good news is that Dave had another go at the rear diff. Now, it is mostly freeway between his place and mine, but when I got home I could not hear it. Best wait a bit on that one- I was concentrating too much on the front diff till I was almost at the front door. As it did with the WRX, the front diff does affect the steering, but you just get used to it.

I have to say I am so impressed with Dave's work. I don't think this has been done anywhere else, and he just knew how to do it. Having said that, until we actually drove the thing we did not know for sure either. If anyone else wants to do this mod, well, you know where to go to get it done.

I will find out over Easter hopefully how good it goes. I already had the diff centre left over from the 6 speed conversion programme on the WRX, and I did the R&R of the gearbox, so I can't give you a price on what it would cost you. Best to contact Dave and he can give you a far better idea than I can

It was a pretty full on day. I was working on removing the gearbox, so I could not see all the things Dave was doing. I don't work as fast as Dave does- he does this sort of thing every day after all-and I started on the car at 0800 and finished at about 1730. As I said though, I did not get a real opportunity to assess how the rear diff goes under different conditions.

Driving the car today, the rear diff is much improved. You might hear the slightest of feint rumbles now, although every now and then there is a louder noise. I suspect that as the diff wears in these noises will all but go. So now the car is bearable to drive and most of the time is silent, and when it is not there is the slight rumble I mentioned. I had to turn the radio off and have the window down to hear these noises, although I could j-u-s-t feel them, although it was hard to tell against the general background vibrations of Sydney roads. If someone did not tell you, most people would not even notice I think. Dave has certainly transformed the car from how it was when we first installed it, and unless you are quite discerning about such things, I would recommend going this route. But I best add that what I can live with others may not, just as others may not notice what I do and wonder why I even mention it.

Me too, me too. And this time next week, it will be. Give or take a few hours.

I have a certain slope for you to try it out next week - we've tagged it "Holy Crap Hill"

Hope I have enough brave pills!

Well, if I do the driving, Kevin can do the photography/filming. He can even post it unless I stuff it up!

Yep, no worries ...... from the bottom of the hill! :raz:

Sounds more like a cliff face than a slope

Maybe you should of gone a gearing upgrade, good luck. Have you got the AT/s fitted yet? if so, if you don't make it up it wont be due to a lack of traction.
