What tyres are you running on?

What Tyre Brand are you on? Yokohama AT/S
What Size are they? 215/60/16
What type are they - wet/dry A/Ts
Are they grippy or not? Pretty good but no match for a proper road tyre.
Are they noisy or quiet? Fairly quiet but they are new.
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? Not bad onroad, not tested off road yet.
What Life span are you getting out of them? Can't tell yet.
Do you like them or not really? So far ....very happy.

All up...very happy as they seem a great compromise, look good and hopefully will get tested off road on my next trip.
I would buy them again.

MY10 Subaru Forester XS Surf

What Tyre Brand are you on? Yokohama Geolandar G95 stock tyres
What Size are they? 225/55R17
What type are they - wet/dry Both
Are they grippy or not? Very
Are they noisy or quiet? Generally quiet but there's a bit of rumble on those white concrete sections of highway.
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? Good for both. Used 90% onroad. See last question
What Life span are you getting out of them? 67000km so far and still plenty of tread left
Do you like them or not really? Yes but am considering an all terrain tyre next. I was thinking Coopers but since finding this thread I'm now thinking the Geolandar ATS.

The downside of these tyres for me is the loss of traction when I'm in the mud on wet days. There seems to be a lot of clay up my way and once the tread fills up with mud the tyres become "slicks" and the ride can become unpredictable. I can lose control for no apparent reason. In dry conditions and on gravel and in the sand I have no issues with them.

Update 15/04/12

Had the tyres for 13months.

What Tyre Brand are you on? Yokahama Geolander AT-S
What Size are they? 215/70R15
What type are they - All Terrain
Are they grippy or not? Very grippy onroad both wet and dry. Offroad they are :censored: excellent in every condition except deep mud. Then again Subarus aren't designed for deep mud...
Are they noisy or quiet? Pretty quite, noise doesn't bother me as I always have my stereo definingloud :iconwink:
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? brilliant on both!
What Life span are you getting out of them? Done almost 40,000km in just over a year since having them on. Looking to get just over 50,000km so I can't complain with that.
Do you like them or not really? Yes very much. They are great on and offroad, I can't speak any more highly of them. They did wear on the outer edges alittle then too much in the centre causing steering wheel wobble at 90+km/hr but thats my fault. Being much heavier than the stock 205/70R15 highway tyres it has made decently noticable difference on low end performance and fuel economy. Well worth the loss in my opinionn though.
I would be getting them again but they don't do a 205/75R15 as I want something to give me 0.5" more clearance. I can't fit 215/75R15 without modification. Looking at General Grabber AT2's as ive heard good things about them.

Are they grippy or not? fantastic on road. surprisingly good offroad. have had one puncher while on rock however
Are they noisy or quiet? very
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? mostly just onroad, but good on sand and light duties
What Life span are you getting out of them? have done 20,000 without a rotation and are only just starting to wear and im not light on the tires either.
Do you like them or not really? for onroad great, but realy want some more offroad orientated tires

Previous tyres (Roo2 came with them)

Gidday All

This is for my previous tyres. I have just removed them, and replaced them with Michelin XM2s.
The Pirellis are going on my trailer, mounted on steel rims.

What Tyre Brand are you on? Pirelli P7
What Size are they? standard ... 215/60x16
What type are they? Road
Are they grippy or not? Good on road; nothing outstanding however. Not as directionally stable as the Bridgestone GR90s on my Impreza. Not bad off road; no real criticism, but Pirelli do not have a good reputation for sidewall strength, AFAIAC. Wearing out before my eyes . Almost certainly not helped by the poor wheel alignment (now rectified) that I have discussed elsewhere.
Are they noisy or quiet? Mostly good. A little noisy on some road surfaces.
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? No real complaints with either use.
What Life span are you getting out of them? No idea. Roo2 came with them fitted.
Do you like them or not really? for on road - better than average, but not great. Replaced with Michelin XM2s. I expect better mileage from these tyres. I will post separately about these.

Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? Yes, I am yet to air them down they have so much traction.
What Life span are you getting out of them? They are a winter tyre so not much I assume.

Are they grippy or not? Good in wet, ok on dry roads
Are they noisy or quiet?
a little more road noise than road tiresAre they good for offroad or just onroad use? Seem pretty good on the gravel roads i've been on, nice amount of grip in some muddy spots, may as well be slicks in the clay around here.
What Life span are you getting out of them? 500km and no wear to see yet
Do you like them or not really?
they fit an sf forester stock, add a little bit of clearance so yep at this stage, will take abit of time to really know

Are they noisy or quiet? good exhaust note is louder
off-road or just onroad use? very good on gravel roads, not as good as road tyres on the bitumen. haven't tried them in the wet roads yet
What Life span are you getting out of them? 500km so far, hoping to get at least 60k
Do you like them or not really? the most aggressive pattern for stock size so seem good.

Tyre/tire size limits in OZ

Me
I am running

Yoko geolandar AT/S
Done 70,000km (about to buy new set)

Happy with noise levels
Would highly recommend them

I only had to drive across town from the tyre shop to get my new suspension fitted on the same day. The car was close to undriveable around corners and undulations due to the tyres scrubbing against the splash guards (inner) on the front.

Once the car got a 1"inch spring lift that arvo, it was much better. Only scrubs at full lock. Inner guards shaved slightly to accommodate tyres. When the car is loaded with people and luggage, the rears scrub a bit. The 1"inch body lift I just purchased will fix that.

What type are they - wet/dry
All-terrain. Good compromise between on and off-road.

Are they grippy or not?
On road - no.
Off-road - yes.

I found a significant drop in grip levels on the road. Of course for normal driving, they're absolutely fine. But when having a spirited drive, the tyres reach their limit far sooner and more regularly. The ABS kicks in sooner and likewise my car's VDC system. The VDC kicks in mid-corner exactly when you DON'T want it to kick in. Far too sensitive. Maybe because they're calibrated for smaller stock tyres?

Off-road, they handle the soft/slippery mud much nicer! I'm no longer nervous when confronted with a bit of mud. They're still NO match for red Australian clay though...

Are they noisy or quiet?
Pleasantly quiet. Everyone says all-terrains are usually louder on-road but I found them to be absolutely no louder than the stock highway tyres.

Are they good for offroad or just onroad use?

Both - good compromise, although it has sacrificed more on-road performance than I would have liked.

What Life span are you getting out of them?
Too early to say. Only clocked a couple of thousand kms in them so far. Will report back...

Do you like them or not really?
So far so good. Ride quality on gravel roads feels smoother and grip on mud has improved. Yet to really push them though, but will be sure to report back on future experiences with them.

Update on my post at #18 on page 2.

I ended up getting 70,231kms out of the last set of Michelin XM1's, I replaced them with another set, great tyres for what I do.

What Tyre Brand are you on?
Dunlop Grandtek AT3

What Size are they?

What type are they - wet/dry
All-terrain.They grip very average on both wet and dry

Are they grippy or not?
Onroad no, in the dry if you give the car a boot load they slip and squeal really loud. In the wet, they have no grip whats so ever and squeal even louder.
Offroad they are alright. Seem to go great in the sand, especially when aired down. Much nicer than my old Geolander AT-S. Rocks and gravel they are ok, they squeal on dirt roads aswell. Mainly when you get the back end of the car out or are sideways..

Are they noisy or quiet?
Noisiest things ever, make general driving uncomfortable. Harsh ride too.

Are they good for offroad or just onroad use?

Pretty average at both

What Life span are you getting out of them?
Well I've 5000km on them in 1 month. I'd say 1/4 of the tread is worn. They are actually disintegrating and missing small chunks of tread.I reckon I will get 15-20,000km. Not impressed since this is my 2nd lot of dunlops and both have been s**t

Do you like them or not really?
Nope, my $30 new tyres that I got for my L-Series were better and much quieter than these things, I won't be getting them again!
The only decent part of them is the white letter writing on the sides which my old Geo's didn't have.

Are they grippy or not?
Good all rounder. Capable in sand and gravel; fine in a modest depth of fresh snow. Good on dry bitumen. Can't be pushed on wet.
Are they noisy or quiet?
Noisier than HT but not obtrusive IMO
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use?
Both
What Life span are you getting out of them?
Too early to say. Have done c. 10k km.
Do you like them?
Lots. Great improvement in dirt traction over the D693 LTs (also an AT tread but looked more like HT).

Currently have Toyo Tourevo LSII A/S 235/55/17 at 35/34. They are good overall (1-5)
dry-5 wet-5 snow- 2 noise-5 handling -5

Are they grippy or not? they were really good on road, at about 50% left they loss there grip in the wet though...
Are they noisy or quiet? quiet
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? mostly just onroad, i dont recommend them for more then a gravel road and sand use
What Life span are you getting out of them? i ended up getting 40,000ks. never rotated and if it wasnt for the punchers i would of easily got 60,000km. if they were on a normal sedan 60-70ks would be easily achievable. after many ks on gravel rock however they were chipping and punchered.
Do you like them or not really?if it was on a normal road car then yes they are great but would get them on another forester that goes off-road.

Are they grippy or not?
| Yes! Haven't once lost traction on the highway in dry/wet conditions (despite trying). On gravel roads, they are a pleasure to drive. Airing down to suit the road sees even better control. On loose pea gravel you can feel the AWD system using them effectively when you slide out around corners. In mud, they have performed well for a A/T tyre. Sand is IMO, where they best perform, bagging out really well providing a good footprint - have only got bogged due to clearance issues, not traction.
Are they noisy or quiet? | Very quiet on the highway (even through a noisy cabin).
Are they good for offroad or just onroad use? | Well behaved onroad, excellent traction offroad where they really show off their ability.
What life span are you getting out of them? | Had them fitted on the 21/09/2012 and to date (17/09/2013)nearly a year later, the guy at the tyre place reckons they have around 80% tread left, and they've done around 40,000 kms. They have been used and abused (driving tracks such as the mundaring powerlines at 36 psi) so can't complain at all.
Do you like them or not really? | Don't like them, love them!! No chips in any of the four tyres whatsoever, excellent wear rate for the amount of k's and terrain I've put them through, and their capability in any terrain is excellent. One puncture in one tyre over the 40,000kms due to driving off broken glass at the tip. Very hesitant to buy any other tyre at this stage.
