Ever since I have been into Subaru’s I have wanted a 4x4 Justy. Last Christmas my wife gave me Rusty :) She bought him off of her Brother’s roommate for $500. Included in the sale were 2 sets of steel wheels, a complete 2nd engine (<future turbo build ;)) and a box of assorted parts. All I can say is I love my Wife ;)

This car is currently serving as my DD until my OBS is back on the road. I own several Subaru’s, but this one is in all honesty my favorite, lol. Well, enough chit-chat, on to the good stuff .

Awesome, on both counts!!! Subie in the dirt, and the project International.

My Granddad had an International Travelall for many years, I loved riding around in that thing. I was very young at the time, but it seems like it was pretty bombproof.

Haha, thanks :)

I hope to have the Scout up and driving around in a couple weeks, if I can get all the kinks worked out :(

I will have a pretty good sized update later tonight.....;)

So, the wife is away at work tonight, my daughter is enthralled in Kid Netflix learning her Spelling, and my loyal pup is by my side, as always. I have the perfect time to work on Rusty :) I have some goals for tonight, and they are...

#1- Cut fender well's to fit my "new" offroad wheel/tire setup ;)(More on said setup later)

#2- Install newly machined hubs onto Rusty, along with the new wheel/tire setup.

#3- Drink 6 pack of Favorite Beer (Technically already started ;))

#4- Install newly acquired oil catch can.

I need my buddy to come over with his cutting wheel in order for the #1 subject get finished, but I hope to do the others as the night goes on. In any case, I am getting things accomplished :)

Thats great to hear :)

Looking forward to seeing this project of yours as it progresses :)

Well that didn't work out quite like I planned, lol. I ended up spending the entire night cleaning the garage, re-organizing, etc. I did manage to find all of the parts needed for my 1.2 Turbo build, which is a good thing since I had thought I threw out a couple key pieces. I took a bunch of pics though, and as soon as they are loaded onto my Mac and Flickr I will share them here :)

-Jamie

PICS!!!! :)

I do this with my other build threads, just tid bits to come/ try out in the future..

TR-126_large.jpg

6x14 bias ply tractor tire :) 25.8 overall diameter means I can easily fit them under my wheel wells ;) (I SHOULD be able to fit up to 28 inch overall diameter tires after trimming)

Well, I ended up going camping this weekend, but left Rusty home :( I was uncertain about the area that my buddies had picked out and decided not to bring him out just yet. I now know though that the area is absolutely cake for Rusty, a lot better off than the last couple trails. Possibly next weekend I will take him and my pup out there :) Here are some shots I took of our little spot though...

I took a couple shots of Rusty to show some small progress being made :)

I have been trying to spend about 30-45 min with Rusty every night in order to speed along the build. My first goal at this point is making the Justy rust free. I have been grinding away at rust every night, and slowly I am seeing good progress :)

After

Little rust spots cleared up top. Bottom should get worked on shortly.

We also had a pretty sweet Moab bound rig that stopped by, so I took a couple shots ;)

The owner has basically taken a brand new dually RAM 5500 Longbox, lengthened the bed, Had the dual axle converted to single, 4" suspension lift, 6.7 Cummins diesel with full EGR delete kit, 4" exhaust, Bully Dog tuner AND complete one-off pop-up camper made in Alaska and shipped to us for install. We are waiting for the rear add-a leaf kit to level it out with the new camper load. Pretty wicked ride I have to admit.

Thats a sweet ride alright :)

But how does he see where he's going with that wheel sitting on the front of it

Great pics, love that track. Looks like some articulation would be needed...

Yeah, not sure of that big wheel out the front. Certainly wouldnt be legal here lol ;)

Are you just looking at this or is it going on for bogs you might be expecting lol

It really isn't that bad once you are behind the wheel. The main thing is remembering that it is out in front when parking, moving around ;)

I am pretty much just looking at my options for an aggressive 13 or 14 right now. I found some pretty good tires today on Tire Rack that I may order in a couple months :)

That trail is pretty easy actually, but it does make the Izuzu Rodeo we went camping in have some trouble:p My other buddy in the passenger seat kept antagonizing the driver saying" Jamie's Justy would have been there by now", lol. It was a fun trip :)

-Jamie

I took a bunch of shots last night, no off-roading though :( Maybe this weekend ;)
