What vehicle would you buy if your Subaru died?

It would have to be an accident- otherwise I'd just fix it. If the Impreza died- gee, that would be hard to replace. A good 22B if I could find/afford it. If the Forrie died- I'd just go and get another one. I'm very happy with both cars- no regrets

Agreed - I'm very happy with Subaru's. I think the only I'd probably ever stray is if Subaru's didn't exist, or ........ I can't find any other reason.

Well after much crying I would probably get another Subi. Maybe an Impreza WRX or another Foz. I have always wanted an L-Series or Brumby though. Damn I wish I could have them all.
They seem to suit me and what I use her for.
If I got a brand new car I would probably get a Nissan Patrol 4.2TD Manual.

QFT. Even though I said only the other day I'd get an Octavia Scout, I can't stray from my favourite brand. I'm also a fanatic - people have stopped asking me for car recommendations because I always give them the same answer

Edit:

This is the car that started it all - purchased brand new back in 1984! (Long time before I was born....) We've had at least one Subaru since then!!

Well once our bank gives us credit back from the a**hole that whiped out our checking account today, i would get another foz. As for that a**hole that went on 13 spending sprees at 3 different krogers in Stone Mountain, Tucker, & Atlanta, GA - i hope you eat **** & die in it.

70 series Landcruiser looks like the winner at the moment.

Just noticed the OP's locaton as Kilaben Bay, we had one of the original houses out there when it was all dirt roads. Both my kids were born at the time we lived there.

I'd probably buy a Triton - oh wait - I did already!

Would probobly take an terminal accident for me to get rid of it, even if theres a couple of leaks...Still only young though, 185xxxkms on it :D

Love the look of the new 75 troopy though.

Mr Turbo

There's a good chance of it Carl, with that many card numbers! Especially if her card was used around the atlanta area.

I wonder if Ej was behind it too, haha

My 2002 Forester is showing sign of its age. It has done 165K and recently I have had to replace clutch, hydraulic clutch cylinders and now CV joint and drive shaft. All up around $5k in addition to regular servicing. There is a very slight oil leak in head gasket which has been quoted $4000 to repair.

It has had very little offroad on good dirt roads. Have towed a small camper trailer.

If you were buying a new vehicle what would you go for?

I am very worried readinf this thread, 165k and the Suba is finished :surprised:
Some posters will replace it with Toyotas, Patrols, Pajeros :shake:
I now wonder if selling my Defender to get a Subaru is a good idea!!
I was expecting 250k before a major service like on the LR Tdi300.

Ozibaru it all depends on what madel, engine, etc.. you have. Like with any car. There are some engines to stay clear from due to head gasket issues. Then there are others that are bullet proof. Clutches usually go anywhere between 150,000km to 200,000+km. Thats just an age thing and is the same with any car aswell.
Most Subarus will go for 300,000+km if servicing and maintenance is kept up as it shoudl be and not missing an oil change or any other service.

They are more reliable than any Ford or Holden and will last many more years and km. Pretty good offroad too for what they are, even at stock. TI would recommend one any day.

Taza

Taza, the engine in question is a 2.5 Turbo which I was thinking that would be as tought as the one in my old Leone.

Couldn't agree more Taza. Yes, perhaps if I need a really heavy duty 4x4 then perhaps I'd go to a Toyota etc. But I just can't find a car that is as good as a Subaru. The practicality, reliability, everything about the Forester (and Subaru's in general) is why I won't drive anything else. Mum and dad have had them since 1983 (I think) which means I've been around them since I was born. I'm now on my first Subaru, which is now 6 years old, done 55,500kms, and I can't see me driving any other brand.

I would, and I have recommended them to anybody that asks - Our old neighbours in Canberra bought a Forester in 1998 because they saw our Subaru's and knew we liked them so they decided to give it a try - They have just recently taken delivery of their third Subaru (a 2011 Impreza XV). A mate of mine from school who didn't know much about cars knew my (and another mate from school who is a member here) thoughts on Subarus and he bought an MY10 Impreza R last year - he's not a car nut, but now knows why I've raved on about them for years!

If you find yourself a well maintained Subaru, then you can't really go wrong. My approach is, look after them, and they'll look after you! Good luck in your search for a Subie!
