What vehicle would you buy if your Subaru died?

If & when the time comes to change my Forester I'll look at another Liberty or an Outback, if I had the money ........... a Porsche Cayenne would be nice to try out.

I'll buy one of these:

Actually, I'm getting one of these regardless.
Series IIa for the win.

I'm with aware on this one - LC Trayback V8 diesel. Put one of those tray (dust proof) "boxes" on the back with kitchen, fridge slides, drawers, water tank, long range fuel tanks etc - camper on top and I'm good to go long time!

. Sounds like an awesome plan.

I'm currently reading the latest 4X4 Australia magazine where they have bought a LC Troopy (the wagon version)

and they have added some awesome accesories. Awesome cars!!

when the suby no longer fits the kids in it i'll be getting a prado 120 series with the newer 3l diesel! Sweet car! I'll bung a locker in the front too

had to laugh when i read that - a mate of mine got a patrol, and the inner meat head in him has gone mad - xtra wheels with mud slingers, roof tray, cb, fridge lift etc etc etc...lockers are on the list but the misses has firmly planted the foot - NO LOCKERS!! she wants a new couch, deck, nursery, car... aint love grand

Cluster Fock is almost onto something...

Do What I did:

85 Land Rover County, 3.9 Isuzu Diesel, 2 inch lift, airbags in the rear, detroit locker in the rear, maxi-drive 24 spline axles, and a hole bunch of other goodies....

Will go basically anywhere I want it to.... Slowly:lol:.

Working on some raised shock mounts and dislocation cones to put some longer travel shocks in and get some serious flex out of it.

But those V8 turbo diesel cruisers are unreal1 I drive one at work, so much power on tap, even with a big load, they'll still overtake up hills. Now if they did a V8TD Troopy with coils in the back... I'd almost trade the landy in for it:iconwink:

Geezz I'm glad I'm single (at times) :raspberry:
No "Minister of Finances" to worry about. :lildevil: :catfight: :lildevil:

Regards
Mr Turbo

For street, I'd like a gen2 gt(b) Legacy.
And to keep with being dirty, I'd just keep swapping all my liberties goodies into better shells :)
Although, I wouldn't mind a ute.. A powerful Holden something rather. Or a hilux with the goodies..

Well, having actually lived in this situation, I'll say this:

When my Subie died, I bought another one!

The beauty of embedding pics... get the url and add (img)(/img) (with brackets around them) to either sides of it

These brackets: [ ] not the rounded ones as above.

I also agree with bumpty - I reckon I'll be swapping into better shells at some point before moving up to a later model subi...

Cheers

I purchased a 1973 Series III Land Rover a couple weeks ago to become my offroad/expedition project vehicle to save my Forester from too much hammering. Always been a massive fan of the old Series LandRovers so I'm pretty stoked.
My Subaru is a 2001 Forester with 180,500 showing on the odo. Clutch was replaced about 10,000 ago and it's been regularly self serviced every 5000km since I got her a year ago at 148,000. Never skips a beat and has plenty of live left in her; although the starter motor is acting up now. Just gotta teach myself how to do the timing belt for when it hits the big 200,000 and I'll probably replace the head gaskets while I'm at it.

if the forry died. id just drive my Panel Van around. but if i had the dollars i may new a newer forry or VY SS wagon. or build up my dream car. HQ 1 tonner with a blown 350 chev would be nice.

I thought about this again when I saw this picture:

If I needed a full 4x4 I'd seriously consider one of these.

Without ARB Kit:

It would have to be an accident- otherwise I'd just fix it. If the Impreza died- gee, that would be hard to replace. A good 22B if I could find/afford it. If the Forrie died- I'd just go and get another one. I'm very happy with both cars- no regrets
