Coming - My New Setup

If custom build why not build body from new

Existing strut bodies were not used as indicated earlier in the thread. :) Everything was reinforced so extra welds. The springs were reused but the perches were raised to suit.

The strut base that has been strengthened is a Tokico - i.e. Subie OEM - because it's actually thicker than the KYB after-market (even though the KYB has 15% more dampening).

The rear struts were extended 25mm.

hey told me the inserts were for a Liberty (Legacy) - a '99 model I think. The rear struts were extended 25mm.

So they not longer travel just raised struts as with same lenght springs you wont get more travel would you?

True, but I wasn't looking for more travel. My requirements were:

What would I like (my wish list I suppose):

- rear to be higher than the front when unladen, say at least 20 mm.
- spring perches to have a bit more clearance to the AT tyres (which are the smallest BFG ATs that fit)
- stronger struts
- reduced "see-sawing" on undulating terrain.
- the addition of a camber bolt in the rear (to compensate for the lift)

Ah thread dig!

I started reading the first post thinking “ah not again!”, I liked it then realised this was in 2009!

Good to see the pics still work and there is some awesome info in here!

Cheers

Bennie
