Subaru on the Dakar '82

Just imagine if you had the time and money to participate. Madness

old times where good times it was more affordable , not like now its all about money not even driving skills so much just latest tech latest engine latest drivetrains , if yo udont have latest you can just then drive for fun , but not for win for sure. i liked those older dakars where was more like standard cars normal cars, not even 4wd ones. and now you need to pay for all those rescue helicopters and other stuff . i dont feel such exited anymore from those latest dakars, and drivers saying the truth as all is for money.

This was the first year that Subaru's had taken part, with 4 1800's enter (no's 199-202) and two Swingbacks 157 and 176.

its so weird when some of half factory teams with lots money lots parts and lots mechanics can go wrong like first day and then second engine failure .. i mean what ? what was they did all year then ?? or at least last month before dakar. that would be normal if i would go there with own standard car then fine but not with $500k , its looks and sounds like some total BS.

That's just Dakar! Expect the unexpected :)

Nah thats just some ba because cars should be like super hardcore tuff ready for bazilion kms on any terrain. Thats why money is paid but then on first day clutch goes off, wut? And on second day engine failure. Sounds like some noob job not well paid mechanics work.

I stopped watching when the London to Dakar didn't start in London or end in Dakar.

Similar to the Monte Carlo rally, when the French controlled organisers banned the Mini Cooper S from competing after they came in at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 9th outright, more or less 2 years in a row ...
Sportsmanship? What sportsmanship ... :puke:

I guess it beats being shot at though!
The BMW minis have been very strong performers but of course these are entirely different vehicles to the original Cooper S.
It's good to see the Aussie bikers doing well, Toby Price and young-gun Daniel Sanders who won the prologue stage but many riders hold back on that stage as they do not want to lead the next day.

Nobody is talking about. Molly Taylor she is running a side by side with south racing she has just won the world E series not to mention the Australian rally championship

Those classics are so nice this year and so much of them. Lots ladas too. Shame they dont get enough attention there from cameras

Well Toby got lost but Daniel won the 2nd stage so still leads.. Molly seems a ways back. It would be nice to see more of the Classics that are competing this year.
