Trouble in the Northern Territory

And I thought the last episode was unbelievable!

At 10 am this morning I visited the dealer and was told the repaired tank would be back by lunchtime and the car would definitely be ready this afternoon. So in preparation I was back at the caravan park packing up when I got a call about 1 pm that the tank COULD NOT BE REPAIRED!

A new tank has to come from Adelaide (by express freight), will arrive Friday morning and the car will now be ready Friday afternoon. They’ve asked me to pay for the cost of the tank (part only $800). The service manager is taking the case up with the fabrication shop as he says they are the culprits who pressure tested the tank and caused the extra damage – not sure who to believe at this point though!

I’m beginning to wonder if I will ever get out of Alice Springs!

I feel like removing the forum's swear filter at this point! :furious:

Yikes! Sorry to hear that, Kevin!

Thanks - another downside to this is that my auxiliary tanks will not be connected as they are not OEM; not that I'd trust them to drill into the rear of the main tank for the gravity feed connection anyway!

Oh man! Sorry to hear that. That's such a pain. I bet you will be truly familiar of the place after that. I can imagine you turning your back when you hear someone extremely excited to visit Alice Springs.

Sickening.

It's really hard to enjoy a place like Alice when you feel that you are a captive.

I enjoyed being here up to a point but now can't wait to get out.

From your testament of their ability Kevin, you wouldn't trust them with a used plastic ice cream container.

Exactly - I'm just thankful they do not represent Subaru!

Oh man! I started looking at all the great pictures, then i started reading, and it got worse and worse. Hope it all gets better soon.

I finally have the car back and am packing ready for a Saturday morning departure - stay tuned!

Now in Marla, South Australia heading South. The car is going well so far!

^ Solo. Arrived Mildura. The front of the engine has started to sound like a metal bucket full of bolts & nuts; it's still running fine and cruising at 110 kph without any problems.

Just what you don't want to hear from a recently repaired engine.

Are you heading straight to Sydney via the Sturt Highway?

If so give my old hometown (Balranald) a wave as you pass through, it's just as you cross the Murrumbidgee
and head on across the Hay Plains and onto Wagga or West Wylong, depending on which way you go.
