Corner Country 2014 Tyre discussion

I would absolutely refute the claim that "MTs are pretty useless onroad"

I run BFG muddies on the Triton and I was surprised at just how well they cope with the twisties and wet roads. The Triton is just like a big Foz under these conditions, except with more grunt, and an absolute joy to push through the bends - more so in the wet. A selection of RWD / AWD / 4WD to suit the conditions probably helps.

Same as these?
BFG - Mud-Terrain T/A KM2

Not as open a tread as most muddies so more tyre surface area on the road. Interesting you say they grip on wet roads, obviously not as much as ATs would but still more than other muddies. Another reason to like BFGs

Comes in 215/75/15 :lildevil: but RRP is $319ea!

Tweaksta, what rims are you running? 15" or 16"?

We have the BFG's m/t km2 on our navara, they wear great and grip is pretty decent in the wet.
We have a second set of 4 if you are interested :) They are only LT265/75r16, love to see those on a foz :)

I've seen there's a new BFG AT come out, prob why Bob Jane has them so cheap to empty out all the old stock. Seriously, I'd jump on it, BFGs at $179 is sensational!!! :monkeydance:

For anyone else interested in the deal - go to the bob jane website - https://www.bobjane.com.au/tyres/bfgoodrich/

then expand the All-Terrain T/A KO range and the specials are on the following tyres:

215/75R15 15" 215mm 75 S(180 km/h) 100 $199.00 ea

215/70R16 16" 215mm 70 R(170 km/h) 100 $179.00 ea

225/75R16 16" 225mm 75 S(180 km/h) 112 $225.00 ea

I don't know how long they'll keep these prices going but it seems great.

I do have slight concerns about going to 70s as I can clearly see the King spring perch about 1cm from my present rubber. Would love em though.

That has to actually hit, does it? Even if you run a high psi it looks like it would just flex a mm to touch it.

Just grind down the spring perch slightly:poke:, or do a fairly descent burnout:twisted::raspberry:

What size is that?

Holy bollocks that's close!

It'd be nice to have another mil or 2 there. Grinding the perch might work but I wonder how thick the perch material is? Probably wouldn't even be 4 mm would it? I reckon it's only 2 or 3 mm thick and it does have a load on it so that's a bit scary.

Spacers come to mind - but not safe or legal here.

With tyre flex that will certainly rub!

MY BFG AT KOs 215/70/16s have more clearance than that, about 5-6mm I reckon. Been on the car for about 3 months now, few overtaking blasts up to about 150kmph and no rubbing, even up to 40psi. That with stock springs and shocks though

Even on full lock?? :poke:

I run that combo on my SG XT with new Falken Wildpeak A/T's and the only rubbing I get is on the inner tyre arch on the flywall side on full lock with stock suspension.

Yep it rubs :(

It really needs SG rear struts, but until I find some KYBs cheap my current ones will have to do, only ~3yo.

The metal has worn down slightly from gravel & mud on the tyre. I've thought about pounding it but the spring sits on that part so not sure how good that would be
