New to the forum, new to Subarus, not too new to offroading. My '17 FXT:
So far, I've installed a 2"/2.5" ADF lift, rear sway bar quick release, and am running Wildpeak AT3Ws. Also fabbed my own rear bumper, tire/jerry can carrier, and a sleeper/kitchen/storage interior, as well as dual battery setup, solar, and filtered water:
other day i saw lifted forester pass trough me and i looked at his rear and i thought , so good no hanging rear links there, just oure ground clearance. and i miss my 2001 VDC how it worked on 2.5 engine, it was lacking power but it worked with less restrictions then these newer models. my reverse gear on this doesnt work kinda it just wines and doesnt do anything if i wanna go backwards in mudd or sand. why ?
7cm lift spacers. people dont do 7cm spacers, well why ? bring it on. i wanna learn why not. for now its my daily driver and i dont see problems. maybe i will later and i will lower it to 5cm , maybe , but for now its where it is.
Not sure about the stoppage when reversing but maybe you need to remap your TCU using Subaru Select Monitor (SSM). It will most definitely be the interference of the traction control. If not, then, they may have designed a different torque converter for that model. As before, when the car begins to stall, it will be fluid-driven. So it will be a factor of fluid pressure and temperature, and can sometimes be dictated by the efficiency of the ATF and transmission cooling.
Our JDM BP9: 2008, 80,000kms. Not an off-roader, but a great back-roader for the South Island of New Zealand... seen here on a bank of the Buller River.
2004 Forester XS aka El Fozzy. 2 1/2 inch lift spacers, LT 215 70R16 Falken Wildpeak AT, roof basket with an LED lightbar and 8 LED spots, cellphone signal booster, Optoma battery, custom front bumper (which we fabricated last weekend), front and rear facing cameras. He's still under construction.
i love places where its just legal to drive in what you want there. steel tubes bumpers, yes no prob. great. that roof nacket lights are great, so much them on side, and i thought i would put just one small on one side spread one .
@baipin Love it. I'm starting to think I need to reclaim the space under my rear cargo tray. What did you do with yours? I'm assuming the foam made way for something else? I'd love to see any additional pics of what you did @baipin
Alrighty, we've done enough adventures to give this a crack!
Here is our fairly stock 5 sp manual MY09 SH Foz. The main additions are the RTT which goes hard, and some Copper Discover ATTs. Oh, and finally, a bit of mud!
Not a good selection of vids to show the trails, since its just the big dog and myself most of the time. but a couple of good angles. Need to trim up the wheel wells a bit more and can swap out the Wildpeak AT for something meatier.
