carljwnc's Job BS Thread

Interview went very well, I thought anyway. It's always hard to tell exactly what the guy on the other side of the desk is thinking though. They are still interviewing folks, but they should let me know sometime next week.:)

...So, the guy was supposed to call me back the week after my interview, Fri. came and I hadn't heard from him. I called him Fri. and he told me that he really couldn't offer me what we had discussed at the interview, he said that they could offer me $2hr. less than what we talked about. I told him that I would think about it and get back to him Mon. morning. He offered me the job at a lower rate of pay which was fine and I suspected might happen, but he did offer me the job!!!...

...I called back Mon. morning to accept the job (at the lower pay rate) and get this line of BS, "well, things have changed since we last talked and now I'm not sure whats happening, I'll have to get back to you".:eviltoyou: What a load of ginormous horse hockey!!! Willing to bet that this is an indication of how they treat their employees. Now I don't want to work there anyway.:yell:

Alright, end of rant/vent. I hate looking for a job.

What a major PIA! That's certainly bad form. Congrats on being offered the job though.

It's been really bad in trucking also this past year. thing that pisses me off is that in canada the economy isn't as bad as in the states or europe but since most canadian truckers do can/u.s. transport we suffered as much as our american fellows and when I tell my bank that I can't make this month's payment because it's bad at work, they look at me funny, as if they weren't aware of the recession! good luck in your search for a job carl, you'll find something.

Firstly congrats on being their top pic & being offered the job mate :)

But for they way they treated you in regards to not calling you back when they said they would etc, I don't think that I'd want to work for them either.
They sound like a bunch of F#!%wits to me.

Regards
Mr Turbo

Oh Well...the search goes on...

On the other hand; I'm loving the part time job I'm doing sharpening things.:) Kitchen knives are a PITA but I'm getting better at it all the time. Garden tools; loppers, hedge trimmers, grass shears...I'm pretty good at. I still have a lot to learn, but the woman I work for is awesome and I'm really enjoying myself. She wishes she could pay me more money and give me more hours and I would certainly stick around there if I could, but such is life...:iconwink:

One perk of my part time job, my own parking spot where no one else parks...

Gotta love your "I got laid off"/"I quit my job"/"I'm looking for new work" threads, Carl! What was that greek guy? Odysseus. Yes, you remind me of Odysseus. Your search never ends.

This economy really stinks! The only benefit here in Washington is government spending. But that won't hold up unless people have jobs to pay taxes to the government, so it in turn can dole out money to local businesses. Any DHS (Department of Homeland Security, for those outside the US) jobs in WNC? :raz:

Good luck with expanding your current part-time gig and/or finding something new! Hopefully the photography business on your spouse's side is holding up better.

Thankfully, the photography biz is doing well. All our bills are paid and we still have our house. Still looking for a job, but there is just not much out there to even apply to. My last check-in with my last job indicated that maybe I'd be back there in Sept. sometime. I'm really hoping for that, I loved that job and thought it had put an end to my "I'm looking for work" threads.

Glad that the bills are paid, Carl. Especially on the (relatively) new house. That's really critical, especially when you've got kids. That also illustrates how two working spouses are better than being single. Makes it all the more important to make sure that we -- i.e. both our spouses and ourselves -- are happy in our marriages.

I guess the rest is gravy. Although I do sincerely hope that your "old" job comes back online. We spend so much time working throughout our lives. Having a job that we love really just makes enjoying life possible (unless you're independently wealthy and don't have to work at all).

Interview today!!! Field service technician for Sundance Power Systems. I have no professional experience doing this sort of work, but they say they are willing to train the right person. Could be cool, and I think the solar stuff is about to take off like never before.

All the best.

Solar was going great here until the idiots in Canberra- and in particular a hypocrite former member of a band who once made himself out to be greener than green- did a low act half way through June. He never siad sorry for that.

Whelp, the job went to someone with more experience than me. I pretty much figured that that would be the case. I'm not out of the running, they are going to hire someone again in Oct.

The search goes on...
