Offroad Subaru Video

Thanks guys! The sound track is actually just a 1-minute clip used by my band as an intro before we go on stage, but I thought it was very appropriate for this vid!

Nice idea!! Would be keen if there were some WA guys that were! Have the equipment so good chance to use it!!

I thought I'd posted in here the other day, but apparently I didn't... Screws must be coming loose...

Thank you to everyone for all the feedback on the teaser. If we set our minds to it, when the finished product is done it will outdo that by a long long way.

I'm soon going to be setting up a dropbox account dedicated to this project, so that Suby drivers from all over the place can start sharing their footage with me and we can really get the ball rolling on this. In the meantime, keep driving and filming!

So obviously I've been a little off the ball with all this over the last couple of months, but I'm still keen to get this project going and making it awesome.

I've done a tiny bit more filming, but nothing that I'm ready to put together in another completed video as yet. Does anyone else have anything that they want to contribute at this stage?

In addition to this, I'm keen to set up another shoot soon. Another thing I want to do is set up a huge shot that will serve as the final shot in the finished product. What I want to do for this shot is get as many vehicles together in one spot for an epic conclusion. What we need to do this is a huge open area that allows space for plenty of cars and has an impressive backdrop. My thoughts were Mt Cole - some of you will know the spot I mean. Does anyone have any other suggestions for where this could be shot?

Im in if an older Subie is allowed! Would be good to have more so we could get something happening, perhaps post in the trips thread to guage interest.

Sweet! Yeah good idea!

Need to work on my filming skills... Haven't picked up the camera for ages!

Matt - what settings do we need to use?

Hey everyone

It's good to see a bit of activity on this thread again - I must admit I've dropped the ball on it somewhat and haven't really been doing anything, but I'm keen to get things moving again if people are still on board. Although, at this rate, I myself am probably not going to get a chance to head out again until early next year (why are are there so few weekends in the world???!)

Sarge - in reference to camera settings, what I might do is take some of my footage and make up a bit of a tutorial on how we can get everything looking awesome and post it up on here. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do that in the coming weeks.

Interceptor - Older subies are certainly still welcome. This is about showcasing subies at their finest, and Brumby's and L-Series' do that very well.

So yeah, if people are still keen, let's get back on the ball for this one, because I think the end result would be awesome.

Hey there! Awesome! Im glad then haha. Im very happy to participate. It'd be a good reason to go wheeling right?

720p looks good enough a quality for this project?

Sarge, are you still unable to make it to the end of year meet?

No worries! I'm also probably not going to be free till the new year, so good to hear we've got some time still...

Yeah TI, not a chance I can make the meet unfortunately, be driving down south on the 1st and will be back around the 23rd, so won't be able to do anything till the new year.

Hoping in the coming weeks/months to make a self-filmed MTB video, just for the challenge - filming with both the gopro and a SLR on a tripod although that will probably be a pain to lug around up hills. Should be good fun, only thought about it today and might be good practice for this film...

1080p...no worries.

Bugger Sarge! Ah well gotta do what you gotta do.

That sounds good! Should be fun indeed and dont forget to include the bloopers

^ Couldn't resist going for a quick ride this arvo and also took the gopro to test a few angles out. Went pretty well! Can't wait to start putting some clips together.

Bloopers!? Got a few good crashes on camera whilst wearing the gopro haha...

Yeah 1080p is definitely the way to go.

One of the main things I have found we need to pay attention to when filming the cars is making sure that exposure settings are right - if you look on the teaser, one of the things that bugs me a bit is that the lighter coloured vehicles are a bit washed out and look almost two-dimensional, something that could definitely be fixed by having the exposure settings lower (set for a darker environment).

I look forward to seeing what everyone has to offer!

Great! Post a vid up when its ready!

Yup bloopers! Its funny seeing people go bum over head, unless they get pretty bung up.. :)

Darn, my handheld camera only appears to record 720p. I do have a camera (like a gopro) which does 1080p but doesn't have a screen and its settings aren't adjustable i think. Ah well we will see what we can do!

I wouldnt mind watching 720p if the content was good  Hell most stuff I watch on youtube is 480p or less...
