Tathra for me???

Sounds awesome.

Great perspective there Silver! Best of luck in your new digs and post up pics of those fish.

Terrific, Silver. Sounds great.

I have always liked flathead. But more bloody bones than a sand whiting. Need a skilled surgeon to fillet either of them properly. I kid you not. A mate in Adelaide had a brother who was a surgeon, and Vin reckons you never got a bone when he filleted the fish ... :iconwink:

My trailer gets its registration next Friday (hopefully ... ), so I might have to break out my fishing gear, such as it is (collapsible rod, 35+ y.o. Shakespeare spinner and a tiny little tackle box ... ). Hope its engine hasn't seized up ... :rotfl:

Seriously though, all the best with your new digs, mate.

Best of luck with everything tomorrow :)
With a menu like that, you'll be eating like a king :raspberry: :bananatoast:

The Subie club usually camps at Mystery Bay each October long weekend; so we can meet up then! Enjoy!

October???? That's a long way away! When i've got nothing to do i change my mind, but i will see how it goes:ebiggrin:.
I bought a couple of new things for the tinny so i can camp out in it overnight in a little cove where i got the Jewies and an EP on the last trip.
With a few simple mods i reckon i can be quite comfortable on an overnight stay and a near full moon could make for a great setting.
More serenity than you can poke a stick at .

sounds like a great deal, silver, enjoy

I'm jealous, I could use a little serenity

Gidday Silver

(Hopefully) you are now getting settled in at your new digs, mate.

Wishing you well for this new adventure in your life :poke: .

Well most stuff is packed away. Got here yesterday and all seems good except for the weather which is not so great. Windy and threatening rain at the moment.
Just need to finish off sorting the boat and all will be good..
Might get out tomorrow in the tinny but a walk along the bank looks more like it. Still, plenty of time.

Seems as though your settling in well, even if the weather isn't.
I'm sure the sun will soon be shining though & you'll be having the time of your life :)

Regards
Mr Turbo

Sure is. I was on the wharf the day before looking over the beach and the town and thinking what a beautiful and peaceful location. Then this!!
As far as I am aware this is the first ever recorded shark attack at Tathra. They think it was a BIG bugger. The estimates range from 3mtrs to 5 mtrs.
A big shark has been sighted now and again over the last few days and there are seals around this area so it's not hard to work out it was more than likely a Great White.
I must admit, it is a touch scarier when it is your own backyard!!:poke::confused::shake:

As sad as it is that she died, we should keep it in perspective.

She died doing something she loved.

She was ~500 times more likely to have died on the roads & ~5000 times more likely to have suffered severe, permanent injuries from a car accident than a shark attack.

Falling coconuts kill more people than sharks.

Vending machines kill more people than sharks.

Being a beach person, she was far more likely to have died from melanoma.

Pork chops have recently been advertised here as having less fat than fish. Saturated fat which leads to heart attacks & stroke kills more than any other cause in Oz.

What I'm saying is, if you're worried about dying, keep out of the sun, away from saturated fat & the hell away from roads. Swim all you like with sharks, they're the least of your worries. You will certainly have already swum with them, just not known it :poke:

*end rant lol*

I think I'd rather die from a falling coconut!

Me too!! On a tropical island, with a good fish on,a beer in one hand and a nice island girl next to me and ....whack on the head with a coconut...no worries!!!:ebiggrin::ebiggrin:

I saw that on the news yesterday, very sad indeed.

And yes I'd rather take the coconut option aswell.

The hubby of the woman, who was swimming at the same time but not near her as she had turned back early, said he saw a large bronze whaler around. He said it was big and would have just swallowed her. They have not found anything except her goggles and a swim cap.

Ah well, life is a sexually transmitted disease which is invariably fatal.
Accept it :poke: :rotfl:.

I can back that up. I've seen my fair share of sharks while surfing

and there's plenty of times when I wasn't brave enough to take the photo before the quick and (attempted) calm paddle back to safety.

But in all my time a sharks never showed an interest in me, the chances of just being taken by a shark on a swim by the beach with out any shark activity are barely worth considering. This was just a very unfortunate and rare event.

I'm an old ex surfie and although sometimes you would look around and thoughts of sharks would cross your mind you didn't spend much time worrying about them. There would have been a lot more of them around when I was young!!
Still...it is only normal that the people that swim and surf here are going to be thinking about it when they are in the water only about 100 mtrs or so from where the woman just disappeared.
Lucky we don't have a redneck government like in WA or the drumlines would be set:eviltoyou::bananagunner:
The search is called off now.
