Suggestions for serious offroad tyres for a Foz

Thanks, Thunder.

I was really thinking about SWMBO's SH with its 225x55 17s. The cheapest quote I have for decent, name brand tyres for it is for Bridgestone RE002 or ER300 at $250 a corner.

^Yeah... The 17 inches will hurt your back-pocket, Ratbag.

I don't think you can get anything a lot cheaper than that, unless you get tyres from tirerack.com or something...

Pedro.

I've been running the grabbers in 205/75 15 for a few years now, love them. Next time I'll probably get the same but in 225/70 15.

I just got 205/75 15 at 105 a tire. I was debating on going with the 225s but I was worried it would be too tight

Try these?

Some small steering and suspension modifications may be necessary ...

Just a few I'd say Ratbag :rotfl:
But mind you, I'd be guessing that they'd be fairy puncture proof

Love it!

But :poke:, how do they handle on the freeway in summer?

I'd be interested to know how people go with those 205/70R15 Trepador's. I think i'm going to seriously look at these in my search for a legal sized (+/- 15mm diameter on tyre placard) mud terrain. Next size that a serious MT pops up at is a 215/75R15, which is +34mm diameter over my stock tyre size. Not even close to legal.

Having done around 10,000kms on my 215-70-16 BFG AT's and only just worn off the little molding hairs I would say that they are worth every bit of the $290 a corner. Expecting well over 80,000 ks. Yeah a lil noisy but nowhere near as bad as I expected. Handle alot better in the wet than I expected also.

I had the BFG AT's and was happy just like you, but at half worn, they became noisier, especially around 60 km/h.
