Well after 3 1/2 months of sitting around on the Gold Coast (still don't like the place!!) i'm off on Thursday :ebiggrin::ebiggrin:.
I'm heading to South West Rocks for a few days and then down to Sydney to catch up with my sister and aim to be in Tathra on Monday 22nd Oct.
Don't really plan to do a lot except put up camp and hang around, go fishing, drink beers and enjoy the (hopefully) nice weather. I plan on staying until, maybe the 2nd week of Dec. and then head back up here.
I'm taking my boat and have got together a few new things like an Oztent RV3 with Deluxe Side Panels, a bit of new fishing gear....a Daiwa Steez 2500 spin reel matched with a Daiwa Black label 1-2.5kg 7'6" spin rod and also a Daiwa Black Label 5-10kg spin stick for my Certate 4000.
Also have my Spotter Penetrator sunnies which i will report back on when they have been put to a PROPER test....that is...fishing.
This will be the first time i have used a pair of polarised sunnies and i'm hoping they are what they say they are.
I have my mate coming over from Vic for a week and another mate who roams all over OZ coming down in Nov.
Looking forward to this as i was most impressed with the Bega River last year and love the nature angle and lack of crowds down the South Coast.

Enjoy silver :raz:
Be safe & stay safe in your travels mate :)

Good luck with the fishing aswell. I hope you catch some whoppers

Have a good trip- the fishing sounds like it will be good with your new gear!

Polarised sunnies are so good. A mate bought me some a couple of years back and now wouldn't be without them for lure fishing.

Enjoy!!

Nice one! Spent the Oct long weekend down there at Mystery Bay; we lunched at the Tathra pub on Sunday (and spotted whales). Beautiful area!

Don't forget the camera! WE LOVE PICS!

Cheers

Well i'm here and.....LOVING IT :ebiggrin::ebiggrin::welcome::bananapartyhat::woohoo:
Hardly any bugger around, it's a bit cool, the water is cold and the fishing is not so good and i don't care!!
I've got a great site and the Oztent seems really good. Very happy with it so far and a well thought out bit of gear.
I have not put the boat in yet as it has been very windy and hard to pick what is happening with the weather. Yesterday morning it was cloudy with thunder rumbling out to sea but came good later. Today is cool and cloudy with a bit of wind up already.
I've been fishing the banks and did no good on my first day,not a touch and went yesterday and much the same until i was almost finished but went to a lagoon sort of bit that i figured would be shallow enough to have a bit warmer water and i got a 67cm Flattie which is my best yet on plastics.
So i can report that my new rod and Steez 2500 is a great combo, the Oztent is nice and the Spotters sunnies are the bees knees.
Pics to come.

:) Excellent Silver! It is a truly beautiful part of the world down there. Would love to see some pictures - has been about 13 years since I was there - very fond memories :)

Great to hear that your "LOVING IT" silver :raz:

I'm also looking forward to seeing the pics too

me too on pics !

don't blame you on the gold coast. i stay away unless i have to go there for work.

OK. Some pics.
First the camp set up and a couple near the mouth of the Bega river and most importantly A FISH .

This one is 67cms which is my new record on plastics. Not very fat this time of year. Water is still a bit cold for them i reckon.

I got the above fish up near the end of this pic. Most people won't fish here as they think it is too shallow and weedy. I figured that it does not get much tidal flow here and the water would be warmer.
Yesterday i went back and got a 63cm one second cast, threw 2 back and lost 2.
The weather is still changeable. Rain last night, cold and windy this morning but tomorrow looks the goods for a trip upriver.
By the way.....if anyone is heading this way over the next 6 weeks ...call in and i might be able to take you for a fish up the river.
As you can see from the first couple of pics the water is still green but will, hopefully, change to a nice shade of blue as summer heats up.
Time for a coffee :raz: .

ahh Silver, just as stunning as I remember :-) if not more so - the Bega river is flowing well and the mouth out to sea is open. The waterfall isn't really far from where you are. Enjoy :-)

My mate is coming over from Castlemaine next weekend i think. I reckon we will go for a drive to have a slide at the waterfall, i'll check the previous post as i forgot the name of it.

Great looking area I must say :)
It also looks like the weather gods are also being kind to you aswell.

That Flatty is a nice size too I must say :)

Just a quick update and a few more pics. It's been quite windy, and to me, a bit cool and the fishing has been fairly patchy but i have been every day except one. I walk around the places i can access or put the boat in and pull up in places and have a stroll, like in one of the pics below.
The tent has been great and i have ordered a front panel for it to keep the bugs out at night. Online shopping can be very useful!!
Not really doing much, fishing, sitting around, drink a beer or two.
It's funny in the morning as i wake up to the sound of the ocean, which has been pounding because of the winds and the Whip Birds who get going at the crack of dawn. No magpies here that i have seen.
A few pics.

Another nice flattie. 63cms.

This part is not that deep and i spent a hour flicking around the weeds. got a couple and missed a big one.

This little bird had been busy attacking my car for a while. I guess it didn't like the fellow in the window. Not a great shot but the best i could do.

I guessing the same re the bird silver.
Would I be right in saying that it's from the Kingfisher family ?

I must also say that the water looks just so, so inviting :)

Thats a nice sized Flatty too. I'm sure it made a decent meal or two aswell :raspberry:
