Notice my car is blowing more black smoke than a diesel truck :(
After a little research turns out its only running really rich, just need to have a further look into it and sort it out.

Also split a rear CV boot, it was perished and I got it the a high pressure hose when cleaning the foz :( Should get that done this week :D

Well turned out my new used motor in my Foz is on the blink just like the old one :furious:
Will be looking into my turbo swap for the end of the year...

ooh taza, that's not good news. My brother had exactly the same thing today in his Liberty, but the fellow was cool & said he would replace it (including pull out & put back in).. sometimes there is a god :-)

Definately puts a dampner on the day, on the glass half full side it means you get a turbo sooner, mind you someone just scored a very tidy looking GT on eBay for $4850, tidiest one I have seen in photos. So you never know what might turn up

Started Disassembling my old motor... :raspberry:

Installed my light weight crank pulley on the foz, its now revs much better between idle and 3500rpm. Has a much better torque pull in gears too  Was dead easy to install, only took 10-15mins

This is my new motor :( Plz watch in fullscreen and 480p quality. Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be? I'd rather not be putting in a 3rd block as it is a real :censored: cop magnet like this! :eviltoyou:  :furious:

Sorry to say it mate, but that's burning oil. The smoke is "blue", not "grey" or "white".

Looks to be valve guides/valve guide seals.
Could be rings.
Alternatively, could be a leaking head gasket or two ...

What are the compression readings?

How much oil is it using per 1000 kms?

What do you mean by that?

Did you install a new engine as in brand new, some stuff replaced/serviced, or did you re-vamp everything? I had that happen when my exhaust valve seals were dripping oil into my CC.

Hey Taza, pull out a litre of oil and put in a product called Moreys oil stabilizer, It is a very thick oil additive that can limit or stop that happening, they are normally around $17 for a litre. I have had it get me out of trouble before and I have stopped one of my previous cars blowing smoke with this product before. I also use it in every service in my wifes liberty, engine and diffs and its at 375000km and doesnt burn a drop of oil.
I used it in my trucks which were burning half a litre of oil per day and it stopped all oil consumption for the 2 years that I owned them and they were doing approx 1500km per week each, plus they made the engines less tappy

If it works, it is only a stop gap to get you out of trouble mind you it got me out of trouble for 2 years at one stage :lildevil:.

Really?? So you have had good success?

I'll try it, if it doesn't work though I'm going to put a thick oil in to try and stop it abit and sell the car as is.

I have used it since 1997, whenever I have done major engine work from heads to full rebuilds I use it on all parts before I put it back together, I have turned motors that make horrible tapping noise like someone is trying to get out into nice quiet smooth sounding engines, but it has also done nothing at all to some vehicles, too far gone. But I figure for $17 it's worth a try you would be surprised what it can do. I have not put it in the XT yet because it is under warranty and I am paying to have it serviced and they are using fully synthetic.

So long story short, yes I use it and yes I have had personal success with it.

Basically it can't hurt:)

Alright thanks! :D I'll go buy some tomorrow.
I filled the oil up yesterday so it was full on the dip stick. Since then I have driven 100km or there abouts, check it today and it didn't even read on the:censored:ing dipstick!!

I am running fully synthetic though. The odd thing is that the motor was fine for the first 10,000km in the car. Its not at 12,500(due for a change) and smoking and burning like all hell.
Spoke to the parents and they were not happy, really put a dampener on the weekend :(
If I decide to sell it I will either be buying a early 2nd gen Forester XT(like Mr Turbos and OutbackOilers) or a small economical 4 cylinder( Prob a Getz). However if I get another car I will not be offroading it or modifying it in any major way. Atleast not for the next 5 years until I finish some qualification and can afford to throw money away..

Can't hurt to try the stuff I guess. I've already thrown over 10k in repairs into the car alone, what's another $20

Nope, drives like it came off the show room floor. It's worse than my old motor, but that ran like a old dog, had not torque and struggled to get to 100km/hr. It runs fine..

By the way do not get talked into any other brand, I have only had success with Moreys, I have tried all of them, I have been a courier and have owned and run garbage trucks and have spent lots of money in the past finding the most effective products to keep vehicles running efficiently
