Ultimate Tire & Wheel Size Thread

I test fitted 225/75r16's on my 09 SH XT. No lift - No chance, rubbed hard ont the rear, just clear the front but probably wouldn't run them just to be safe. I plan on buying 225/70r16's when I build my lift.

225/70r16 will still prob require you to trim the plastic a bit in the rear guard. some people find the tyres touch where those are in the rear guard at full droop of the suspension. some don't depends on the tyres i guess.

Those are great looking tires though. Too bad they rub too much.

They look fantastic TX_curb_hopper :raz:

Mr Turbo

I thank you kindly! I took it to the local mud hole and they worked tons better than the Continentals of course. My neighbor said now it looks like a "real SUV." When I get the bull horns on the front, then my own Texas "Special Appearance Package" will be complete.

The front tire rubbed once when I had the wheel turned and jumped the curb going 10 mph, but they are not rubbing at all under normal driving conditions.

Yea they aren't a bad tyre from what I hear but unfortunately they are no longer available which is probably why they were at the dump. 2 near new, 2 bald, this is one of the near new ones, it has some horrendous scalloping wear so the previous owner probably fitted a new set of 4 and these went to the tip.

Forester SF
Geolandar a/t-s g012
225/70r15 (on ET38 offset) fits

Started with some minor strut rubbing at decent left turns, after 1" lift kit and good wheel alignment no rubbing at all, tight fit on SF struts though..

2010-2014 Outback:

--stock: 225-60-17, awful size, only Geolander AT-S available, which runs a bit small

--easy upgrade: 235-60-17 per several members, Cooper Discoverer AT3

--easy upgrade: 225-65-17, which is what I have. Geolander AT-S, Pirelli Scorpion ATR, and Maxxis 771. BFG TA KO2 supposed to be available soon.

Although I have 0.5" spacers, which results in the rear wheels being pushed forward, the tire fits fine.

--tough upgrade: 235-65-17. This is reputed to be the tallest that can fit. I have test-fitted such a tire and it was literally mm from the wheel well, so a no-go with spacers. But should fit a stock car or a car that has the Primitive rear kit.

Think twice about: going beyond 235-60-17 on an H4, unless very steep hills and high elevations are not on the radar.

First time posting with an attachment, not actually sure what's going to happen :) SH Forester stock with 225/60/17 ATs

Out of interest, will Audi A3 5x100 15" et35 offset forged alloys fit an SH Forester?
Having bad thoughts about picking up a high-mileage 2008 SH cheap at the auctions with a 5-speed DR, EJ253, fitting some 215/75r15 Kumho kl71s on aforementioned wheels, snorkel, diff breathers and calling it a day. Possibly also some standard height rear kings to cure droopy arse. With traction control it ought to be half decent offroad (and if I get desperate there's always 1.59 4.44 and DCCD with a clutch rear diff).
The Suzi is nice but it's no Soob and it has some appalling design flaws... like the fact that the transfer case is the most exposed thing on the bottom and it has no way of sealing it/extending its breather...

Hmmm ....

Never trust a reformed Subaholic ... :iconwink: :rotfl:

Sounds like a plan to me, KF :).

Has anyone out there fitted 215/65/16's to an SG Forester (with no suspension mods) and had no, repeat no, problems?

^ a fully inflated 215/65 16 spare will not fit in an "un-modified" spare wheel well, IIRC.

Some (mine ... ) wheel wells are harder to 'modify' than others ...

I have 215X65X16`s on my MY03.
Spare must be deflated to fit in well.
LH front tyre rubs slightly under certain conditions.
Otherwise no probs but car is lifted by a SubaXtreme 40 mm kit.

Thanks guys ... must be pretty marginal even with the original215/60's
And I'm guessing a 205/65 would present the same clearance issues.
Although the placarded rating is 95H, mine came with Cooper CS4's which are 95T. I don't see a problem with that - I'd never be going over 110kph.
