Swaybar Quick Disconnects

With an upgraded swaybar from stock though I don't know if that extra pressure would brake them? Someone could test that.

I've been running an STi swaybar with this setup for over a year with no problems

+1 for the pins on ebay. even my local bolt shop doesn't have anything to suit.

for some reason clevis/cotter pins are very difficult to get in Oz.
The only ones I found were at Coventry's and 1 size only - see my link on page 1
you can buy them online thru the USA here

Where I got mine at 'Bolts R Us' a specialist bolt store they had heaps and in numerous sizes.
I will put to gether some kits tomorrow afternoon and put them up on ebay over the weekend.

Hey Taza.

Are you still going to do this mate? I would be really interested in a set.

Cheers

Yeah I can do. I need to get another 2 of the pins for my front sway bar. The front bar cat cut into the pins due to the force and bent them abit. This has happended from offroading and not disconnecting them. The weight of the wheels has put abit too much pressure on the pins I think.
I will go this afternoon.

Taza

Went too the bolt specialist today and they have to order the clevis pins in. So I have ordered a large number and then will put some packs together and put them up on ebay.

Excellent news mate. Looking forward to getting some.

Well, its taken me a while to pull my finger out but I've finally done the quick disconnects. Only took 10min to pull out the bolts & put in the pins.

Tools needed: 14mm socket & spanner:

Rear articulation:

Front articulation:

Note, this was done on 4" of redgum on diagonal corners. The rear left was just touching the ground with the swaybar disconnected. With it connected, the left rear was bout 1" off the ground...not much difference but this was with a near empty tank & no driver. Add some extra weight to compress the HD Kings & the difference would be much greater I'm sure.

Overall, ridiculously easy & cheap! :monkeydance:

nice
this mod is so much easier on the SF foresters
watch the R clips can spin freely , taking into consideration suspension travel.
I had to cut mine down as they were rubbing when I went over bumps

Looks good mate... 4" I have that lift in the rear of my car   Mind you I think I have enough articulation, just need a strongly shimmed up clutch type rear LSD and I'm set. Combined with my 2.5l motor... :iconwink:

@NachaLuva Apologies for necroposting, but all the pictures in this old post have died. Does anyone have any links to where I can see this setup? I'd like to implement on my FXT. Thanks!

Seeings as it's just a little over a year and a bit since this was posted...

If someone could resurect their pictures or post new ones of their setups that would be great!
Looking at disconnecting them on my SG, and it would be nice to be able to do it relatively easily. :)

or just disconnect sway bar and drive.

Well, yes. that's the intention. It would be good to remain somewhat legal though.

I wonder what the law actually is concerning swaybars in OZ. I've read that removing them is illegal, but is just disconnecting them?? (there used to be loopholes like that in various laws..)
