PICTURE POST: your favorite off-road shot!

dsc3932wyperfield.jpg

Here's my last offroad experince.

The first was airborne under brakes :( Damage resulted, work is in progress to repair. My better half also has sentimental value of Ruby Scoo too, hence the works in progress...

Cheers

Bennie

We had fun watching...then I had fun doing the chicken run on the side haha

Is this the rock slab I've seen on videos where people slide off the side? & you've done it in the snow!!!:eek:

Would love to do something similar but do it in warm sunny weather lol

What you're talking about is Lion's Back.
That route is now closed and has been for a few years (private developer's glorious plans to build luxury homes around there).
This is Baby lion's back and is just around the corner from Lion's back.

And yes, in the snow. It's a LOT quieter and WAAAY less crowded around here in the winter. It's nice really!

Here's Wednesday's (12/14/11) for ya!

For those of us with old school subes..we get to have our cake and eat it too... My outback could never achieve the extension and compression of my hatchie..

Awesome vid. Love how its a loop...drive over then back onto the road then do it all again

PS: love the song lol

We had a hatch come out on a cruise the weekend before last on an AUSubaru cruise to Two Rocks, 2.2L with a supercharger and another member has one stripped down to a shell in mint condition so they are around but pretty rare, they might have been personal imports, not too sure but do love them ????

Yeah "Hatchie" sounds evil and just powers through the sand but because it's on a switch he normally turns it off for daily driving as it cuts in and out all the time, especially at 100kph, the car is an absolute dog if you get too close but still a great little beast. Supercharger is a fairly big unit and sits where your ABS would normally be, I'm sure there would be a build thread on it at AUSubaru, it was built in Perth by the previous owner.

I've heard of "Hatchie"...sounds like a beast. But I dont understand why it cuts in and out...

I've had the pleasure of experiencing a cruise in Hatchie

Here's Ruby Scoo and Hatchie hanging out with some other choice subi's:

The super charger cuts in and out as it's triggered by a switch on the throttle. I think Dave had it set up with a dash switch too so that he could turn it on when he wanted rather than flooring it for the extra power the SC put on tap.

Put it this way, at 100km/h without the charger in operation it was rather sedate in the acceleration department and not a lot of noise either. Flick the switch with the throttle still flat to the floor and you'd bet pushing into your seat and lane change at the same time! Simply awesome!

I was sad to hear that Dave had sold it on, I was keen for him to bring it over here for some 4wd'n with Ruby Scoo now that she's lifted etc.

The Hatch is a grey import, I'm pretty sure there's only a handful of them in Australia if that. I know of two in WA, one being Hatchie and another in South Australia that was on ebay some time ago with a straight gas Ej22 project underway.

I've seen a video that dave made of a tribute to Hatchie a number of years ago, but I don't think it's on youtube, it shows how he got it and the build up to what it is today, plus the fun inbetween ;)

Cheers

I've seen that vid, together with another one that Hatchie featured in  Absolutely brilliant  :discomonkey:
But they were taken off youtube for some reason  :o

The reason they were removed was because the videos were not property of the person who put them up. Dave did a DVD sometime ago of their 4wd'n trips and builds, an awesome collaboration that was really well packaged. Someone then put the best of these videos up on youtube, I think it was suba84 - anyway this didn't go down well from what I understand and the videos were eventually removed.

Lucky for me I've got a copy of the DVD. I'm not sure if Dave would do any extra copies but I could find out if there's some interest in a run of say 20 DVDs...
