PICTURE POST: your favorite off-road shot!

No, there was a Patrol with us as well and he did the honours. Every time I think about this trip it brings a smile- and I know it does to Damo as well. Oh dear it was hilarious- but I guess you had to be there.

No, we thought we'd leave rivers to the boats, towing to tow trucks and the dirt tracks for the Forries. Worked out well- mostly!

What kind of camera are you using to shoot anyway's? The light/colors you capture is pretty awesome.

I really like this action shot one, it's definitely an OFFroad pic of your Subi
Thanks Turbo! I still need to get the video edited from that day (notice the Gopro on the roof?). Nothing like ripping it around a rally track at full speed in a street car :lildevil:

I love the snow/ice wrapping around the back wheel.
Thanks! One of my favorites because of that also
This one is at the top too:

I got so many cool action shots from this past winter. Ice racing rocks :monkeydance:

It's a Canon S5-IS that I picked up on clearance 4 or 5 years ago for around $350 bucks. Only 8 Megapixel. It's a larger style camera, but is still point-and-shoot based, not DSLR. Great little camera for what it does.

Thanks, can't wait to get the snorkel fitted along with low-profile bumpers and such. (AND HOPEFULLY a lift sometime soon)

Fantastic pic Blue Fox :raz:
As a matter of interest, was that photo taken using HDR ?

The post-processing technique is HDR, yes. I take 5 pictures. Varying from over-exposed to under-exposed. I then compile those 5 images together to create an HDR photograph. Most of the time, automated HDR compiling doesn't do as well as I would like, so I go in there and compile the 5 images manually. Takes me an hour or more per photo, but I enjoy it. Once I get the HDR compiled to my liking in Photoshop CS3, I move onto Apple Aperture with NIK plugins to color correct and fine-tune the post-processing to its final state.

My first-ever venture into HDR photography was with the shot below (which I'm surprised I haven't posted here yet). I took it 2 years ago in the mountains outside my town I was leaving the National Park area, and was just about to get to the highway when the sun set and orange arose from everywhere. I just had to pull over and take a pic, using the same Canon S5-IS I mentioned earlier. Kept the picture a little darker that I would have liked, but think it turned out alright for my first HDR.....

It doesn't look like there's a trail there. But, it runs up behind the car..

And a couple more from higher up, in the same area, the next morning..

Thanks! I do wish I had noticed the lens flare while I was up there. I really need to get a hood for that lens..
