The Great Alaskan Tundra Humper *pic heavy*
Hello Gents and Ladies, I am Jeremiah. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska; i'm in college, aspiring to become an English teacher; and bought my foz two years ago. This is it's story: I broke it really soon after buying it, about a month or two. I got the ol' beast stuck in the snow, and trying to tow it out did a fair deal of damage: But that was no big deal, it drove quite alright after we shoveled it out. Then, in the spring time, a bit of hooning started the rear bumper's issue of wanting a divorce: Summer of 2013 brought plastidip and rear wheel bearings sounding like they were trying to make butter out of gravel: Also got a nice deep clean at the laser wash: Of course some adventures: The spring of 2014 brought blown...
Blinky the 97 SF forester
Been a little while since I've had to time (or extra $$) to do more work outfitting my forester. But theres some mods and extras in the near future so I've started my thread to keep track of it all. heres blinky Rear wheel carrier is in the works atm, and repainting the roof in white plastidip. other than that I'm looking at making a rear storage system and strut lift.
Project: Trail-Ready Low-Mileage SF5
Hello everyone! I'm Drew, I live in the Chicago area, and this is the build thread for my little daily driver that I purchased in May of 2015! Much of this is copied from my build thread on the Forester forum, but I will now update this one as I add parts/take cool pictures. EDIT 6/24: I haven't been on in a while, so I wanted to clean the thread up a bit, and add some new photos as the Foz has grown a bit since my last update. Let me start off with the basics: 1999 Forester L 5-Speed 56,000 miles (when purchased) One Owner Pristine Interior Casette deck! Current Mods: Anderson Design Fab 2" lift kit w/ trailing arm spacers Curt Extended Roof Basket (wanting to switch to a Yakima as this is rusting after a year) Method MR502 15x7...
Life In The Old Man Yet
I was going to sell my beloved Subee for a bigger unit, was thinking a D Max twin cab ute. After adding up the costs and the outlay and the repayments etc etc today i decided the Subee gets another 5 yrs to live again. It has a lot of history this car, its the car the started ORS, its been all over the place in some very tough conditions, and is now a tow car for my old camper (also getting a facelift) and will run me out to the detecting sites, some of this terrain is pretty rugged. So where to begin? Last year i put a set of heavy duty springs on the old girl and now i will run it in for new struts (brand/make/type are open to suggestion) A new set of rubber will go on after that, will give the Yokis a miss this time, i chewed the...

Foz Shredding Dunes The Foz Flies! Happy Foz'ing! :)
Lifted Gen 1 GT Legacy
G'day All, just joined the site and have been modding Subarus for many years. I have had this car for nearly 2 years. Purchased with a blown engine and rough paintwork but otherwise original it was a bargain for $1000. I drove it standard for a while but in August 2012 I added the lift etc to make it more practical. It has recently undergone a Gearbox swap to dual range with 1.44:1 reduction from a Forester. Added to this was a DCCD rear housing and associated electronics to lock up the centre. I believe this makes for the most versatile Subaru gearbox. Currently has 16 inch forester rims, Outback struts with raised King springs etc so is very versatile off road while still being civilised on road. A Centre console from an Auto...
Nachaluva's Foz
Two years ago I got a heartbreaking call my brother in law had suddenly died from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). He was a strong, healthy, fit man. They found him slumped over the table at work...apparently he was dead before he even hit the table, so at least he didn’t suffer at all. My sister offered me his car, so I bought it. It was their 3rd Subie but my 1st. I soon got tired of the poor lights so set out on my 1st mod...a headlight wiring upgrade & upgraded H4 bulbs. I soon ran into problems which is how I came upon AuSubaru while researching the wiring. After much work & lots of help, esp from Gannon, my 1st mod was finished: Headlights Wiring Upgrade - ORS My 1st trip offroad was soon after to picturesque...
Got a 2003 blue Forester. It has been recently serviced and had a head gasket change. It has oem alloys but I also got a set of steel rims, which going off previous posts won't be needed as the alloys should be plenty strong enough. After having the car nearly 2 weeks a few things need attention. The clock light doesn't work, the rear wiper doesn't work, the tyres are showing age and I get a whistle from the exhaust when under acceleration over 3K rpm. This sunday was fix it day. The clock light was easy. The rear wiper was little more challenging. Didnt get any voltage at the rear wiper connector. I knew the fuse wasnt blown as the rear washer stikk works and they share the same fuse. Followed the cable run back to the right...

Well, Folks It's done. SWMBO approved, and so did I. They put the acid on us, as have a "sale" on ending today, and had two other enquiries. Refused a holding deposit ... So I had to grovel and gawk today. All straight underneath. Doubt that it has ever even been off the bitumen. Some parts at the rear still looked "new" - i.e. original sub-frame paint with no layer of dirt ... Car has not been detailed; so good to see it "raw". Take delivery next Thursday. This is it, here. Got a reasonable deal on the Camry, $2,500, specially when one adds back the cost of imminent repairs of the order of $1,500~2,000 ... The dealership had already reduced their asking price by around $2,000. So not a bad deal for a 3 y.o. car with 65K Kms on...
The Zook
Yes, I know it's not a Subaru but I have seen a couple of other non-Subie builds on this page before... At any rate it's not a 'cruiser! This thread shall document the mods and adventures of my 2008 AUDM (yes it's a 2nd hand import) Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.4 JLX. 5-speed manual, 124 kW VVT DOHC IL4, ~1600 kg, 2:1 transfer case. Crap ground clearance. Now with snorkel. Acquired this at the start of June to replace my smashed Forry. The Foz was a good car and I looked for an SH to replace it with, but I couldn't find one in my price range. This GV was brought over cheap by a mate of my father's and he offered it to me for a price I couldn't refuse (almost half what a manual SH with an EJ25 and similar kms would have cost - Suzuki's...
Introducing.....LIL' TIFF :p
I have no idea where the name "Lil Tiff" has come from but it's just the way it is. I'll put it on the licence plate soon enough. Maybe in pink? :rotfl: hahaha. Anyhow. I thought I would start a journal because my subie is being modded fast. I don't see a lot of stuff out there on this model (2002 outback) so I hope to be of assistance to anyone who has the same vehicle and is looking to make some cool changes. Here she is now: Got the ARB Awning installed onto my Yakima load warrior and a nice 4 foot firestick antenna for my CB radio. Here is the way I went with mounting my CB. Surprisingly there is plenty of room for my legs and I don't even touch it. The speaker is facing out so it is plenty loud. Here is an up close of my...
t.ridden's 2nd Subaru
G'day all, I've been searching for a long-term daily for a while now. After much searching and trying of various Subarus (seriously, why would you even look at another make? ;) ) I finally found one that I couldn't walk away from. The Gen 3 and 4 Libertys/Legacys have long been two of my favorite cars of any kind/era. When this little gem came up on my Gumtree feed, I was a tad skeptical, but couldn't resist going for a look and I was pleasantly very surprised! One owner from factory 110k kms FULL service logbooks Just had 100000km service, including Timing Belt, done by Subaru, with receipts NO OIL LEAKS!! Anywhere! Hardly a trace of grease on the front underbody, just enough to tell it hadn't been purposefully scrubbed clean...
The Green Bomb: My Daily Beater
I figured I'd start a little picture thread of the little Impreza that I use as a winter beater/daily driver/work truck while the Foz is under construction. 1995 Impreza base (auto) 205,000miles Lifted on FXT struts and springs Tires and wheels from an outback Back seat removed for hauling metal Back in the fall of 2015 when I had just got Ol' Silver, my dad bought the Green Bomb from a coworker. Here it sits with a bunch of foresters during the engine swap. The FXT should look familiar if you follow me on Instagram: 20150806_202020 by jeremiah stewart, on Flickr Later that year we lifted it on my Forester's old struts when I went to the Hotbits: 20151129_163347 by jeremiah stewart, on Flickr Then summer of 2016 it saw its first...
Couchmans Fridge
Hi this is the Fridge... Being white and square I couldn't think of a better name. It is the new family wagon so we can all get out an enjoy the outdoors. Have put it to good use since we have had it, and have had three enjoyable weekends out since getting it on the road. Picture taken somewhere in the Connondale range Still is in need of a paint / front grill but it's good enough for now. So far mods discussed after our last adventure are: Bash plate for the sump Minor lift
XV 'Crosstrek'
Just thought I would introduce myself and my little pride and joy at the same time. I purchased the XV standard, but have slowly been modifying it, so that it better suits my needs. I do a lot of trail running and trout fishing, so I am always heading offroad to find the best places to run and fish. Here is a list and pics of my mods so far; * Hella horn upgrade. * Plastidip front grill to remove the chrome. * Hella 181 spotlights installed behind grill. * Rear OE fog light. * Kicker speaker/Alpine Amp stereo install. * 20% tint * Rear 'subaru' and 'crosstrek' OE badges. Items which I have ordered and just need to find time to install; * 1inch strut lift. * 225/60r17 Yokohama Geolander tyres. * Plastidip OE wheels black. * Rear OE...
Finally got my hands on another Forester! It's an automatic 1997 SF5A T/TB (JDM) in two tone Green on Silver just like the first one. Sand/brown interior, just like the first one. And full of dog hair, just like the first one  Only differences between MkI and MkII is lack of rear spoiler, this one has factory Foz wheels and it doesn't have a passenger airbag. Picked it up for $2k off TradeMe this morning. Needs a hell of a cut and polish and a mega service to flush out whatever gunk the previous owner was scammed with (he was an admitted non-mechanically minded person). The coolant system will take a lot of effort and is #1 on the to do list. So tomorrow I'm off to SCA to pick up some new spark plugs, oil, coolant, air filter...
