It appears that new Electric Subaru may come to Australia.

Will you consider buying one when this happens?

No. We're buying a 9.6 kWh LiFePO4 battery to attach to our 8 kW solar panels.

It has an all singing, all dancing inverter that also acts as a UPS within less than a few milliseconds. We will be totally off-grid for about 8 months of the year, and close to it for the rest.

It will be a fifth to a sixth of the price of an EV, including the original solar panel system, and is non-polluting in use.

Electric vehicles just export the pollution somewhere else ATM.

At present I would not purchase any EV.
IMPO those who have EV`s are fooling themselves if they think they are helping the planet. Whilst present running and polluting costs are generally either low or non existent the Environmental damage the manufacture of them has already caused far outweighs any benefits they may now gain for the bigger picture, the survival of this planet.
After all it is the Environment that enables us Homo Sapiens to live here. Despite those like E Musk esq there is no planet B in the foreseeable future.
When our, at present generous, feed in rate disappears we shall probably go down Ratbag`s path and get a battery and be self contained
In an ideal world with, say, 2 billion people total growing an alcohol providing crop, sugar, corn, and using alcohol as a fuel would be the way to go. Alcohol burns to water and carbon dioxide which is reused to grow more raw material..

not full EV but Subaru has a long way to go if they can't even get their hybrid right.

Afraid IMHO Subaru lost the plot about 10 years ago. I confess I am biased but my MY03 is still the best car I have ever owned.
I would extend that to the MY06 to MY08 models, but agree after that.
Our MY09 is not as good a car as our MY06, IMO.
