Wanted to auction a 2007 Forester X auto (with leather seats and sunroof interestingly) as the first car for my son.
Went to inspect the car and tested well over 30 minutes (if not more) and with a scan tool in park position - no trouble code, no obvious oil dip on the ground, coolant looks clean (not milky) and the car starts straight and engine is quieter than my 06 Forester! Just there is dirt accumulated at the steering wheel pump area and there is rust in the fuel well. Unable to drive the car much due to insufficient room (from too many cars around). The next service is supposed to be in April 2024!!
The attached scan reports look alright, don't they? They were scanned under direct sun (at 32C) with full speed aircon on, radio on and high beam on.

Nothing there immediately jumps out at me

Thanks Kevin. I didn't get it. The bid just went crazy in the last hour or so. End up winning price was about $45,000. {Edit Ratbag} - $4,500 {end edit}

$45K - that is unbelievable for a 2007 X (more likely an X Luxury or XS Luxury as it has leather and moonroof). Even so they're not worth more than $12K.

I think its a X luxury as it has no climate control air-con. Plus the necessity to replace the timing belt, fix the steering wheel pump leak, and the driver side windows unable to come down...could be up to $60K all up.

Geez, the delivery price to the original owner of our 2009 Forester XS Sportshift auto, with towbar, was only about $43,500.

We paid ?? around $27,000 (less trade in for the 1994 Camry) for it in December 2011. It still had factory warranty, and had ~56,000 Kms on it.

My 2006 SG XS 5 speed dual range had towing kit, cost much the same to the original owners, and had about 101,000 Kms on the clock. Traded in my 1993 Impreza and paid the balance of the ~$18,500 asking price.

Seems that we got a deal in both cases!

Oh...reading my own messages again...and I think I might have sign of dementia 😵‍💫

The winning bid was about $4.5K ($4,500) and to have all the issues addressed to the total cost of the car could be up to $6K ($6,000). 🥴

These mistakes happen, mate. I've fixed your original post.
