What’s the best Subaru for off roading?

Thanks Graeme, I decided to fix up my 2011 forester. You mentioned you not to fussed if you get a few knocks on your old Subaru’s just wondering if you seen the YouTube page “she’ll be right” a few fellas down it Tassie doing amazing things with there’s I haven’t seen anyone driving them that hard before, I was thinking of adding a lift kit, but I heard 2” is pretty high and causes lots of CV breakages is it worth going for a lower lift, some one I know suggested adding spacers between the body and chassis to get a bigger tyres and a 1” lift, less strain on the CV joints. What do you think?
@NachaLuva at Subie Lift Oz is your go-to man.

A 2011 Forester is already pretty high. Sump guard first, then see how you go.

Hi Damian
I had not seen shell be right, so I looked it up. Good laugh. I started off with one forester and it was a daily driver as well as weekend car. Personally I would not do a 1" lift. I have not had any problems with 2" lifts other than the front inner cv Boots on my 2001. Yes SH already high compared to other fozi's. I do not run a sump guard at the moment on my SH but will in the future. I had a guard on my 2001 and was well worth the money. I do not run my cars that hard now. I think Matt at SLO has good kits. I have SG, SG facelift and SH all with 2" lifts.

I consider 2" to be a mild lift. Any more than that and the vehicle is supposed to be inspected, but how many do? My SH has 395k. All good so far. I personally like suspension lift for these vehicles as opposed to body lifts. start rock hopping getting wheels spinning in the air and hitting the ground, yes you will eventually break cv's on any car.

Oh that’s great thank you I appreciate your insight and everybody’s input so far

if add something to best ... like if that offroading is more like on slippery stuff where you need just good traction then car with VDC would have advantage agains older models. because that traction control can put grip on wheels where you need . just not for too hard off roading but for more like overlanding its enough... and more power with that VDC the better .

So I got the 2 inch lift at the front and 2 1/2 inch at the back and I’ve just gone to renew my insurance policy and Budget won’t renew it, do you have any suggestions on who I could use for Car insurance with a lift on a Subaru… Damian
