Anyone tried a Bridgestone Duravis R411?
Has light truck construction in the 215/60R16 size
WHOOPS! See correction below.....
Yes, I've been running them (alongside a set of AT Geolanders on spare rims) for quite some time. I am just about to replace them.
THE GOOD:
* Tough as old boots. Very hard to puncture.
* Tough sidewalls too.
* Reasonably quiet.
* Very long-wearing.
* Last forever.
THE BAD:
* Ride quality poor to middling.
* On-road grip mediocre.
* Off-road grip mediocre.
* Tramline significantly in mud or deep sand
* Last forever.
I coped OK with the ride quality and the lack of grip - I've done enough off-road driving to cope comfortably enough with the tramlining and the not-so-great grip in mud or sand - and was happy to exchange those things for the peace of mind that the excellent puncture resistance brings. I do a lot of deep outback driving on tracks and very bad roads miles from anywhere, but don't do serious off-road stuff except where necessary. (I don't do it for fun, only to get somewhere I want to go.) Toughness matter more than grip for me. So the Duravis tyres worked pretty well at that, and I certainly got a lot of heavy-duty miles for not much money. But I wouldn't buy them again.
EDIT! My dumb mistake, they aren't Brigestone Duravis light truck tyres, they are Vanteza Hero light truck tyres. Whether the Duravis are any better I don't know.
