Forester 2006 - Bad Head Gaskets...maybe?

Maybe they actually used different gaskets in Oz and Japan?
My gaskets started going at about 165,000km in the Foz.
Dunno about the SVX, no paper work suggesting its been done and that's pushing 230,000kms. It is the unicorn engine though. :D

That's earlier than normal

Mine was around 106,000 km. It's mild, and 4 years later I've only added 5,000 km since relegating it as a rarely driven back-up car. Only topped up twice since January 2019, last time it was May 2020, a full year ago!

Anyway, 95% sure I'm getting my head gaskets done...

That's earlier than normal🙃 Was it a low miles per year car?
Not that much earlier than normal, 165,000kms is a bit over 100,000miles isn't it? I got another 20,000kms out of her before I did the gaskets, it was only a bit of a weep. never went through more than about 0.5L oil per 6months or so.

@Ben Up North you're right, that's the norm. I'm hoping the graphite OEM gaskets I have last me long enough to buy a used Wilderness Forester before selling. Or maybe one of the last XTs with a 4eat.
I'll probably give this to my sister when I'm done with it. She can make her son fix it😂

At 368000 kms I am waiting, but not hoping, for things to start falling off. Hopefully not along the French Line in June.........
Yes I have had a very good run out of it and it owes me zilch.

@ateday I think you have a phantom mechanic that stole your car and replaced your gaskets with MLS gaskets. Or you're totally clueless and you're driving a 2012 without knowing it🙃

My ex's grandfather thought he was a teenager born around the same time. It happens🙃
