Something wild is coming! Outback 2022 Wilderness X

This is the latest toyota collaboration I believe.

edit: or maybe not. Because suggestions that I heard were the toyota collaboration is going to be a hatch. reveal for that is April 5th.

so most capable most lifted from factory subaru ? subaru says that it is. 0.8' factory lift, 9.5' ground clearance. better angles, 0.2' wider track. new X mode . is it enough ?
would feel sorry for those new Onyx model owners. better outback is there

I'm not really fan, its a bit too much ! Looks like the Baja but station wagon.

I'm willing to bet it doesn't end up coming to Australia, just like the Baja didn't too.

It's got a full sized spare! That's a plus.

Nice to see the extra clearance (241mm / 9.5") and skid plate as standard; still think the approach angle is not good - too much junk at the lower front

It will be interesting to see what difference the gearing makes. Doesn't sound like a crawler gear is being used, they've just tweaked the CVT programming.
Also looking forward to seeing the XV/Crosssover Wilderness version assuming it comes out. One of those with more aggressive gearing, a lift, and the 2.4 Turbo would be a little beastie!

And to see real test how that changed x mode will work. Will it help then. Looks interesting though not pretiest one .

Those fenders are interesting as they not round anymote more angular like new rav4 style i guess and i lile that, though it looks like wheels little too small for that lift i think you could get there little higher tires and it would look better

Haha, that one looks wild. Good thing they lifted it from factory. At least, the owner won't worry about the cost of wearing out affected parts like CV, bushes, etc.

You think they lifted it in such way that it wont affect cv axles angles, though 2cm lift is like nothing there rly i guess. Still interesting what they did there.

The lift looks half-arsed to me. Check out the rear wheel to front of well spacing.

Good to see it got the FA DIT engine -- but how will that low-mount turbo go being dunked into river crossings after a bit of right foot action? I bet they'll get lots of returns with cracked exhaust housings if anyone dares to take it offroad.

I noticed that, what's happened there? It's not like it would need trailing arm spacers, because it's not that type of suspension

I worried about that too. Had a look with 'windows - +" (ie zoom the screen) and I reckon its about what I have on my old OB with 1 size over standard tyres (225x16/60), so probably ok.

yeh - 'ok', but not something you expect a major car manufacturer to settle for.

Like I said - half-arsed.

OK, so having pushed a modded 2010 forester to the limits climbing steep grades, I can say that I'm genuinely stoked about the re-tuned drive train. This is really the Achilles heel of all subarus to date. The transmission is geared for roads not rocks and it really holds back Subarus from tackling some of the interesting off road trails I'm most interested in

Not really. You have what amounts to a WRX with amazing any-road abilities, and pretty good for true off road stuff, if you're sensible.

It's not a short wheel base Landcruiser (thank god!).
