Camper buildout

@Moribus

@Bill_P Great idea using zippered bags! I'll consider that for something. I may have light things stores overhead that way

Been super busy at work, plus tiring the dogs out and I haven't had much time to work on my camper. I don't wanna make noise to bug the people upstairs after 9pm🙃
Anyhow, I wound up starting over on my bed frame. The other frame would have worked, but it was unnecessarily complex with the storage and whatnot.
*First photo is one of only two or three points that will actually be bolted down. The bedframe will basically just slot into the top of the part I'm bolting in. And there will probably be 1-2 more points that do the same.
I also still have a lot of drilling to do to cut weight off the bed frame. It won't be as light as the other one, but it just makes a lot more sense

@Moribus it looks like they're back up to their normal price. But now that I have them, I'd happily pay much more than the $27.99 for them!!!

Bed is largely finished. I'm still on the fence about supporting the side near the right passenger door, just behind the front seat. I can either support it from underneath, or suspend it with a cable so there's nothing underneath affecting storage space. But then I also have to worry about dogs tangling in it if I suspend it. It's 5' long front to back, but about 5'10" corner to corner. I'm adding a 14" folding extension that'll allow the passenger seat to go all the way back and give me and the dogs a lot more space.
*I also snagged a set of poorly painted, 16" wheels off an old Impreza for $200. I'm going to strip the paint, then paint them with purple Raptor Liner. I have 225/70r16 Nokian Rotiiva AT's coming in the mail for them. They're 0.4" taller than my 215/65/17s. 🤞 they don't rub the perch when aired down 😬. I'm guessing I'll have minimal grinding to get them to not rub while turning.

Pull the plug in the spare wheel well and you could have a shower on those slats as well :)

Definitely not finished. But I'm stoked to be getting a first night out in the Foz. My fridge definitely needs to be elevated to the roof for sleeping though. Even with just two dogs and not a second person, it's snug with the fridge being on the bed. I'd be good putting it outside because there aren't any bears here but I'll tough it out tonight🙃 This trail was pretty tough to get up. And I didn't expect to make it without the AT tires. But I got much higher than I thought I would. And the area I had to stop at was steeper than I thought I'd get to if I had my AT tires. So that's a huge win!!! I think cresting this trail will be significantly easier with the ATs. And I don't think I need much more capability than what this is showing with the Nokian Entyre 2.0s.
*I really wish there were smaller, top loading fridges. This is about as small as they get other than the super junky ones that will run indefinitely to stay cold. There are smaller front loaders. But I'm worried about packing them with offroading, and they're not quite as efficient... especially the small ones.
*This is Grantsville Utah. About an 80min drive east of the famous Bonneville Salt Flats. But there's a ton of salt flat here too

That will be fun to lift when it's full...

@Ben Up North ha, for sure!!! If it's just me and the dogs, it won't be too heavy. But if I'm with a friend, I'm sure there will be plenty of beer in it. I'll make them lift it in that case😂 I think it's 28lbs when empty

These things fit perfectly in the roof of a Forester SG if you're dumb enough to cut your roof out🙃
I only put a relief cut in so I could have space for the d-rings. I'm sure I'm going to hit my head a bunch on the ratchet but not as much as the rare person that'll be sitting in that back seat😬
*Murtagh hates when I'm in the garage without being in my car. I briefly stepped inside to get a drink and he snuck into the car and won't get out now💓

Finally got my Eternabond tape for my CIGS solar panel. They're pretty spendy but have enormous advantages over standard flexible, and glass panels. They have their own tape(it doesn't really go to the edge) but I decided to go this route so I can reuse these panels on my next car without too much trouble. Most flexible panels don't last long so that's not a worry. But these panels degrade very slowly.

First real Fozventure with the children!!! We camped along the Virgin River in Arizona for our first night. Then did an easy, flattish 5 mile hike in SW Vegas. We're headed to Death Valley now. Unfortunately, you can't do any of the fun trails with dogs there because it's a national park

Well there goes my image of a white/silver long haired slightly crusty looking old geezer.

And I'm also hungry.
:D

One should never assume.

Massive photo dumb🙃 I had abysmal service for a few days. We stopped at Death Valley and it's definitely an incredible place!!! Then we headed to Mammoth for some hiking and camping, then off to Lake Tahoe. We're now camped on the Pacific just south of San Francisco

Not the best day I've ever had😂 My lightweight Odyssey battery has an M6, 3.9nm torque specification male stud and I totally broke the bolt off. Kinda hard to leave for my road trip tomorrow morning now🙃
*Yes, I used a torque wrench that was calibrated 2 years ago, that I've used 5-6 since it was calibrated.
