Yep, she died (05 subaru legacy)

BTW, what ran the EJ22 in america? there are a lot of subarus around in my area... couldn't be that hard to find a EJ22 to build up like that with a "stroker" from my EJ25 :P

also, is there much of an issue going from sohc to dohc? this would help in finding a motor...

do both the sohc ej22 and ej25 from the earlier years still swap in without any hardware issues? like wire harnesses or slightly different motor mounts and such?

i don't want to get an older ej25 sohc to find out the wiring harness is different or get an ej22 and have stuff either left over or missing... lol

also founds some brand new short blocks on ebay... not sure which ej25 block it is... looks like a dohc by looking at the pistons... but i'll look into it :P

Allow me to suggest https://www.ultimatesubaru.org . There are people there with lots of expierience with this mod. Basically for your year it is plug and play, but it would be a shame not to put a 2.5 back in an 05. There is nothing wrong with the 2005 2.5's.

case closed. grandpa and dad don't want me messing around with my daily driver. a good friend across the street from the welding shop's son is a certified subaru mechanic who said he'd do the motor swap for 800 dollars, and knows where to find me a motor (basically has all the hookups a subieholic could ask for) looks like he is going to do all the work now. my dad doesn't want me driving his truck anymore... even though i treat it better than he does.

i intend on keeping the old motor if possible... and rebuilding it when i get around to it... the question would be what it is going into .

1. sell it... cash is good for a college kid.
2. swap it back in... when the parents aren't looking.
3. get a dune buggy... make it a 6 wheel dune buggy (dreamt that one up today) 4 tires in the rear, all being driven. (used subaru parts with about a one foot driveshaft)

i have the tools to do the dune buggy, would just have to find one :raspberry: that would be awesome if i could make it street legal

I hope you're talking a 6 wheel drive buggy - that'd be awesome!!!

well, buying a used motor this week (2500 american, eek...)

but the good news, 27k on the motor, 3 year parts and labor warranty.

i'll keep you guys posted... (also found several 05 scrapped subies that i can get some parts off of in the motor hunt )
