Temp gauge spike.

Real time engine temp for one. You’ll see a numerical figure for the temp reading. Very accurate!

There will be other cool things to look at - fault codes, stored codes, and probably average fuel use and instantaneous fuel usage.

You guys use this when out on the road as well??

also what exactly am i looking for when using this tool???

I used to use an UltraGauge - it comes in either wired or wireless versions. The one I had in my 2003 XS was the wired version, it worked really well, the only drawback was it had no logging it was real time or nothing.
UltraGauge never had the wireless version when I bought mine, although if it had been I think I would have still gone wired, as my mobile phone wasn't all that smart back in those days.

well i keep seeing this Scan gauge II popping up on other forums, must be a very good product

Still havent go one of these yet, but my external HG leak has gotten worse. Higher rate of leaking, not gushing but higher. I shouldve fixed this when i first got the car urghhhh

So i booked her in for the Head job ;) . They said it might cost even more for if the valves are buggered as well which im hoping not. She has been looked after before i got er and i still try to look after her as well. Hope they dont find anything wrong the bottom end as well.

It's unlikely the valves are buggered if it's just an external leak for now. The main issues people face come from when it overheats and warps the block

What sort of "mechanic" are you using! 😉

@Ser_Egg I see what you did there :P

Valves won’t be an issue unless you’ve snapped the cam belt. In which case they’ll have to be removed and replaced, the pistons will need a thorough inspection to look for cracks etc. but I don’t think this will be your issue.

All the best. I hope she’s good to you after her service ;) ;)

haha cheers guys :) Also do mechanics like being told that you want them to put OEM Headgaskets? If they do im telling them to put the ones that go on the Turbo model EJ25s??

been nearly a week and my mechanic hasnt even rang me up about anything. Im pretty freaking frustrated about this as i was expecting some sort of communication from apparently the most recommended mechanic in town. two reasons for this either wrong phone number or the job just isnt done. Ill find out tomorrow thats for sure
