off road Build for my 05 SG XT Auto

Thanks you guys for the great info so far, Keep it coming. Learning a lot!

I have another question for you guys as well. So I am going to go with methods wheels. They have a rally series and trail series... the rally series is only rated for roughly 1200-1500lbs do I need to consider the off road wheels that have a rating of 2650lbs and a load rating of roughly 3000lbs? or is that over kill? I want to do this right and again really appreciate your help peeps.

The rally series will be fine I believe. 1200-1500 lbs per wheel is ............ a lot! ;) ~ half ton per wheel.

I'd say its not that much, if you're driving down a rutted/rocky trail and find yourself lifting a rear wheel, the amount of weight on the opposite front wheel is probably the half of the car's weight, or more.

cant be that much on other front wheel. sure all engine and stuff there, but then depends on waht angle car is. could be up hill and lifting front wheel.

Everything I could find online when I did my research for my wheels said that you take the maximum axle load and divide by two. There is meant to be enough of a safety factor to account for all of the dynamic loadings. But this is only about 800lb depending on the car model. Even though my research said differently, I wanted my wheels to take the full axle load (JF1SF5's method) and decided that I wanted at least 1600lb. Hence I got Racelines with a rating of 1675lb. I am sure that Methods, being a rally rim, would have higher safety factor. If they say anything about rally use for the lighter rating, then I'd be comfortable with the lower rating, as there'd be a huge amount of force in rally driving. The only damaged alloys I've seen have been from jumps, which I don't really do. However seeing others damage their rims may have made me over cautious at the time of my purchase. What you are planning on using the car for may affect you decision.
