Torq-Masters Industries - Locking Differentials

just find other diff used one from some scrapyard and use that. LSD diffs dont fit good with those lockers there. xt model is not best fit for locker ai think as they can brake on too heavy loads... you should ask them questions then , i mean ask torque locker makes what you should use. but i saw those locker diffs broke on too much power... so hmm

after some research the answer to my question is no, the carriers are not interchangeables mostly due to the diferrent screw holes for the ring gear

These production runs are for the 5-bolt open R-160. The 1 bolts will be further down the line.
I read on another forum that you are working on aTorq locker to fit the larger Ascent rear diffs. If that's true, could you give us an update / ETA?

(Admin Note: Here's what a member has achieved with 3 Torq Lockers and customization; refer here for the original thread: https://www.offroadsubarus.com/threads/9111/ )

I haven't really had time to do any hard core wheeling in these conditions. But here is an interesting comparative test we did in our driveway...

Here is some weekend video. It's not really hard-core, but shows some of what can do in the snow we have at present

thats good video .. i mean you guys need good marketing ... and comparison between that and some default subaru of that gen .. and then maybe some with VDC to compare.. i mean we all need to like see to believe that its much better then stock open diffs subaru and maybe better then some VDC cars .... and thats when you get orders ... is it not ? :)

That's good performance on the hummocks in the second vid - doubt you'd get through that with open diffs. Our LSD front and rear is considerably better than the stock opens and they allow us to go significantly further, especially in slippery stuff. But there's no way we could get traction down the way those lockers can, particularly with a wheel up. Not sure I want lockers, though. Still happy with our existing setup of Torsen front and R160 rear for all rounding.

I used to feel the same way. I had heard how unwieldy autolockers in particular can be. When I found out that Torq Masters finally developed the first automatic locker for Subaru, I was determined to prove what an unsatisfactory setup an auto-locker would be in a car that already has a pretty impressive traction system and great handling on road.
I was expecting chirping wheels in parking lots and random torque steer when transitioning between accelerating and coasting during a turn. I was floored to find that was simply not the case. I was so impressed with the operation and performance of the rear Torq locker both off road and on that I decided to take it to the next level with lockers also front and center. The center especially wasn't easy, and required some finesse to get it working smoothly. What I learned from developing the center I further applied to the front and rear setups as well. I learned these Torq lockers can far exceed the reputation that autolockers have developed. It is possible to put together a very quiet, well mannered, and extraordinary traction system utilizing them. JonM

Although I am very happy with front and rear Quaife helicals and a planetary DCCD center, I would really like to be able to lock the helicals in some situations. I wanted to retrofit a traction control but I don't have the knowledge, electronics is really not what I'm interested in, I should ask someone to help me...

But 2 or 3 Torq lockers, if they behave as nicely as you describe them, why not !

Could you make a video making some slow U-turns on a parking lot on dry, wet and ice/compact snow conditions ?
