Kurrajong Trip report

With a short run, up he went, sending dirt all over us. It was hilarious, even though dirt was down the back of my shirt, through my hair, etc. But he did get up first go.
This was just as the dirt started to fly.

What you can't see is the rest of us getting burried alive in dirt thrown up by the wheels! Great stuff indeed!!!
This might give you a better idea of what it was like.

Rally & myself in the middle of the dust storm about to be buried alive. :surprised:

A great day of driving and a pleasure to meet Damien, Alex, Mat and Tony!

It was always interesting to follow Alex and watch him put the Prado to the test by choosing the most difficult lines. That car can sure crawl through some terrain with its long-travel suspension and low gearing.

In the standard-height Forester I usually had to choose a much more cautious path! The Mountain Lagoon Fire Trail has certainly deteriorated since my trip up there nearly a year ago - https://offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=42.

Here are the vehicles at our quick stop at the BP servo on the way up to the Comleroy Road turn-off:

With Damien's Forester ahead in the distance, Alex guns the Prado through the first unavoidable obstacle on the Mountain Lagoon Fire Trail:

...and makes it through:

I approach the same bit of track, with Matt following:

...and also get through with the help of momentum, despite a lifted rear wheel:

Matt cruises through in the Pajero in 2wd:

On the now-infamous side track approach he found, Alex in the Prado:

...nearly there:

and done!

Of course my car needed a faster approach and a lot of right pedal to make it up this hill on the first attempt, as some of the pics earlier in this thread show...if you can see through the cloud of dust! I think my second attempt wasn't successful because the tyres had kicked up so much dirt (on the first attempt) that the diagonally opposite wheels were left with big holes to fall into. Damien's earlier photos (the non-dusty ones!) show the car stopped and opposite wheels at full compression and extension.

Thanks for a great day out guys!

That would be anytime in the next 6 months. I'm keen- but next time a camping trip would be good

I'm keen for another but am busy until mid June now at best. Agree it's a good time of year for camping.
