What a wonderful trip it was today. We had 2 Forries, a Pajero and a Prado. I met Damo at Nth Ryde, and jumped in his car until we met at the RAAF base, where we saw some air force planes taking off. I jumped into the Pajero and we headed of. It was all pretty easy, but also very pretty. The only down side all day was the wind which at times blew very strongly. That did not really bother us in the cars though. As the going became a bit tougher, we stayed in 2WD but Alex in the Prado was most keen to test the limits of the baby cruiser, finding the hardest part of the track along the way.
So when we passed a small area above the road where we were on, Alex decided to climb the short, steep and lumpy accss ramp. It took a few goes, but he eventually got up. Not to be undone, Simon in his stock Forester- other than sump guard-also wahted to give it a go. With a short run, up he went, sending dirt all over us. It was hilarious, even though dirt was down the back of my shirt, through my hair, etc. But he did get up first go.
That was something ven the lifted, diff lock equipped Pajero could not do, although he did not have any run up. I think he took 3 attempts as well, but I am not sure. So the scoreboard read Forester 1, Prado and Pajero 0. Since that was the only really difficult section all trip, that is also the final score.
Damo also managed to get his car up on 3 wheels- the right rear maybe 15-18 inches off the ground. Look for the photos. We had lunch at a great lookout, and that was where the wind was most noticeable.
Great to catch up with Mat, Alex and Damo again, but very pleased to meet Simon and his mate Adam.
That was it, but most importantly, thanks for the ride- very much appreciated.
