What a wonderful trip it was today. We had 2 Forries, a Pajero and a Prado. I met Damo at Nth Ryde, and jumped in his car until we met at the RAAF base, where we saw some air force planes taking off. I jumped into the Pajero and we headed of. It was all pretty easy, but also very pretty. The only down side all day was the wind which at times blew very strongly. That did not really bother us in the cars though. As the going became a bit tougher, we stayed in 2WD but Alex in the Prado was most keen to test the limits of the baby cruiser, finding the hardest part of the track along the way.

So when we passed a small area above the road where we were on, Alex decided to climb the short, steep and lumpy accss ramp. It took a few goes, but he eventually got up. Not to be undone, Simon in his stock Forester- other than sump guard-also wahted to give it a go. With a short run, up he went, sending dirt all over us. It was hilarious, even though dirt was down the back of my shirt, through my hair, etc. But he did get up first go.

That was something ven the lifted, diff lock equipped Pajero could not do, although he did not have any run up. I think he took 3 attempts as well, but I am not sure. So the scoreboard read Forester 1, Prado and Pajero 0. Since that was the only really difficult section all trip, that is also the final score.

Damo also managed to get his car up on 3 wheels- the right rear maybe 15-18 inches off the ground. Look for the photos. We had lunch at a great lookout, and that was where the wind was most noticeable.

Great to catch up with Mat, Alex and Damo again, but very pleased to meet Simon and his mate Adam.

That was it, but most importantly, thanks for the ride- very much appreciated.

Was a good day, thanks to Damo for organising it. Was probably one of our shorter trips but the surrounds were beautiful.

Can't wait to see the photos. Not sure if there was video of Simon launching his Forester up that ramp but it was sure spectacular to watch and goes to show momentum can achieve a lot. I did have 3 goes in the Pajero but in my defense the first was a very half hearted attempt in 2WD, the second I thought I'd see if I could crawl up as that was the first time I'd even put the car in 4L and first time I'd turned the diff on since buying it. Third time I had a little run up and got up OK.

Was entertaining being at the end of the queue watching Alex in the Prado pick the most difficult lines possible and watching Simon work the Foresters suspension.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. :)
I did get a little worried when I lost you guys in my rear mirror, but after reversing up a bit I saw Hux. :)
Then I saw which way he was facing & thought 'why are you facing that way'.

It was all good though. Especially seeing what a stock Forry can do.
Well done Simon

I'll sort out the pics I took & put some up shortly.

Well, that is all true. We did ask Mat to see if he could do it in 2WD. It was interesting though that even in 4WD and the rear diff lock on, and with 3 spinning wheels, you do need as mentioned some degree of run up, even in a real 4WD. The more important thing is that it provided some good laughs and in my opinion the highlight of the day

Yeah, I agree. I don't think any of us expected him to go that hard on the first attempt

Give the bloke who said you could not come a belt over the ears!

Alright, second time I've logged in today....I'm gonna' have to bust it out....Don't make me.....Too late....

Not happy Jan! Sorry I missed it - looks like a great day. Still, I guess I shouldn't complain about laying around on the beach at the Gold Coast for the day. It was tough, but someone had to do it...

:woohoo: I can rest easier now, I was getting a bit anxious not seeing any pics.:iconwink: My fave is the third one in the last post with the Subie climbing the short, steep hill, awesome!!!:bcool:

What you can't see is the rest of us getting burried alive in dirt thrown up by the wheels! Great stuff indeed!!!
