2004 Forester Radio Install

Hi,
Just wondering, I'm going to replace the stock CD unit in my 04 X model, with a Sony MP3 (CDX-GT270) purchased from JB HIFI.

How does the centre console unbolt and does anyone have a wiring diagram for the existing head? Planning on replacing the speakers at some point too.

Also any ideas on where to located a UHF/Ham radio? Centre console under the radio would work I guess, just worried if the radio gets warm in there.

There is a good write up on a UHF install by mav, it's for an '02 Outback but should be similar Look Here, I believe there may be some others including a head unit replace try the 'ol search button.

I had a look at that. I guess this is fairly close to a Forester, as I'm not familiar with the Outback.

Also going to install the antenna for the UHF on the roof, I think there is already a hole plugged up there from a previous install. Any tips on how to reinstall the base would be much appreciated.
