XV temperature gauge.

Always happens doesn't it. Already ordered my scangauge.
Just a note on the oem radio/ cd player.
I know I whinge about the xv a fair bit, but one thing that is way above usual oem car quality is the radio unit. I had a big bucks Sony unit that I had had in my Rodeo and took out when I sold it. Once I used the OEM subie one I didn't bother . For a start it had the best radio reception of any unit I have ever come across , even with the tiny aerial . I can get stations to stick so much furthur than even the Sony So I left it in. The actual audio quality is dammed good for a car unit. That plus the steering wheel audio controls ( which I am still not using enough yet).
The one problem is it will only pair one bluetooth phone at a time so we can't drive with Sally and my phone connected at the same time.

Mine is the AutoPumpkin version.
but just a generic Chinese "RokChip"
As above, RAdio, DVD, DVR (just add a front camera) reversing camera, gps, all that fruit.
integrates with the factory steering wheel controls which are customisable to suit you.
i.e I use the "mute" button, to Pause the media player, and you can programme in a "long press" to give twice as many functions

It's only issue is poor bluetooth microphone audio.

Cheers, does the factory reverse camera plug in too?

I know you've already ordered your scangauge.

But if the trip computer in the XV is anything like the one in my MY 15 Forester have a play around with the trip computer in the top of the dash. Particularly the triple meter screen.

One of the available data fields is engine temperature, along with throttle percentage and turbo pressure (for XT models).

https://performancedrive.com.au/wp-...Subaru-Forester-XT-trip-computer-1280x794.jpg

From the factory it usually shows trip time, distance and economy. Which is fine for most people. But look at what suits you.

Cheers,

I use the ActiveOBD free app and a Bluetooth adapter which attaches to the OBD port to monitor ATF as well as engine oil and coolant.

Scangauge is running and doing what I want without a fuss. I use GPS for tripmeter anyway.
The XV doesn't have a engine temp option in the mid dash data screens as far as I could find ( and I DID read the manual. I am from a IT background. It's second nature)

There you go, surely it would have been easier for Subaru to just make the trip computers basically the same for all Impreza, XV and Forester models... but hey it was only a suggestion.

The data fields I can select from in the Forester are (quoting the owners manual):
- Average vehicle speed (Average vehicle speed for the entire driving time from when the trip meter was reset)
- Lifetime fuel consumption
- Engine oil temperature
- Accelerator opening ratio
- Journey time (the time that has elapsed since the ignition switch was turned to the “ON” position)
- Journey distance (the distance that has been driven since the ignition switch was turned to the “ON” position)
- Average fuel consumption (for the entire driving distance from when the ignition switch was turned to the “ON” position)
- Boost pressure (turbo petrol engine models only)

It's certainly a handy option in the MY15 Forester when towing. Much better peace of mind then the MY10 with just the Blue/Red light.
I just wish you could display more than 3 fields at once.

Good to hear the scangauge is working out for you though.
