Following on from this thread about planning https://offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?p=87866#post87866 , here are some thoughts and photos.

I have uploaded some of the pics from my PC to my web site. Had some other stuff to do today.

Even after a very good night's sleep last night, I still feel rat-***ed today.

My previous thoughts about the slight, but noticeable, change for the better in Roo2's handling as a result of fitting the Subaxtreme roo bar were borne out yesterday. Its 21+ kg mass must have changed the F:R weight distribution in a positive way on both dirt and bitumen. Quite obvious between 60-100(+) kmh. Perhaps it adds back balance that the very solid tow bar added to the car's rear disturbed since new.

The light bar was brilliant (pun intended ... :iconwink: ), both on the open road and on winding, dirt mountain roads as well. Very comfortable about vision at 80-100 kmh on the latter, regardless of environment.

Around and after dusk we saw 4-6 wallabies; 2-3 wombats (ditto) and a number of rabbits and foxes. All showed clearly with the light bar from a long way away .

Both up and down hills, and on the flat, the spread and illumination was far better than the standard lights (which aren't all that bad on my model ... ).

More importantly, the light coverage passed the 'passenger test'. My mate was very comfortable about the speeds I was doing and reckoned he had never been in any vehicle with as good lights! My mate is also very used to the car's handling, having travelled some thousands of kms with me on photo expeditions. He also noticed the slight change in stability of handling. So probably not just my imagination ... ;).

We did around 500 kms in total, with the fuel economy being about 9.2L/100 Kms over about 460 Kms of it between inbound and outbound fills. Not bad, considering that about 200 Kms of that 460 Kms was at moderate to slow speeds on dirt and/or hilly back roads.

Some advertising pics of Roo2 in its natural environment on Walkerville beach on Waratah Bay, very late in the day (about 1730H). Wilson's Promontory is just across the bay. The track that the boat ramp comes off can be seen about 5 m above the beach level, so the ramp was quite steep. Quite a steep and damaged boat ramp to the beach, specially the bottom half of it. Roo2 handled it with complete aplomb. Just took it slowly, and crept up it in LR :). Quite a nice little shack peeping out in the background ...

Gave a (very) fleeting thought to driving through here:

Thanks, Ate & S2. It was a fantastic day .

Adobe Bridge 6 shat itself today and turned all my keywords from 'Persisent' to 'Temporary' :puke:.

Two hours and a headache later, all is fixed ...

I have uploaded more photos to my web site, but not feeling like the effort to post them ATM.

More computer shop stuff tomorrow. Also a trip to Jimi for a couple of minor alterations to the trailer - some back legs, plus modifications to the gas bottle holders.

I'm contemplating renaming Roo2 to Warthog since fitting the new front bar ... ;)

Today ended up being consumed by servicing one of our printers, and eventually getting 4 x 2 GB RAM chips that actually work in some computers I have inherited.

The latter (four of) are getting a new lease on life by getting a RAM upgrade, 240 GB SSD drives and a long overdue strip down and clean. They are currently running Windows 7 Pro, so qualify for a 'free' upgrade to Winows 10 Pro. I will have to consider this ...

The first of these loads Word/Excel/Powerpoint, Photoshop CS6 in around 2.5 seconds ... ;)

Terrible stuff, these 5 y.o. old computers ...
