Rear Cargo area draws and shelves... Who's got em?

Looks like they're fitting in well - what if you need to get to the spare wheel?

840mm deep (front to rear) x 235mm high x 960 wide

I like these guys... i will build one for myself shortly... might try and make it as light as possible.

Question: With these that fold up to access the spare wheel... do u need to put the back seats down to do it? or is there a little bit of space between the box and the seats to allow it to pivot??

Dave

Yes, you need to put the back seat down; not all the way mind you, just for the back rest to be vertical should do it.

This may be a bit later than the others, but I thought it fits here. Here is the storage system, my dad and I made last month from connect it and ply wood.

I'm looking at possibly building my own storage compartment off of the measurements of Kevin's, but I have a quick question. Is it completely necessary to remove the current "storage compartments" in the car like you did Kevin? Or is it possible to build something on top of them? Obvious main concern is spare tire access? If this sounds like a dumb question I'm sorry, I hate math and I have a hard time visualizing these things! My biggest thing is I would want to remove one drawer from what Kevin has due to the fact that I live in an apartment without a garage and I have ramps in my car and will need a place to store them under the shelves in the place of one drawer! Phhwww! Sorry it's so wordy!

Well, anything's possible as they say. You could build on top of the existing styrofoam I guess. You would need to carefully measure for anything that you want to sit on top of the drawer e.g. a fridge, especially the clearance under the lip of the roof lining at the tailgate.

Haha, very true Kevin! I guess I'll have to have a buddy of mine who likes working with measurements and drawing, take a look at it!

Hello All,

My journey is just beginning... as a new user I can't begin to express how appreciative I am for this forum. The amount of information is just overwhelming, hard to know where to begin...

I'm breaking my research/organizing up into categories: tyres/tires, interior, exterior, suspension, etc...

I found this thread after a couple hours of drawing out some ideas and really love what Kevin and TroyXT have shown us and hope to put something together like this.

I'm looking for some ideas of what material to use and if there are any US based shops doing this type of construction.

My idea is to create the storage similar to Kevin's(?) measurements 33x9x37.5 (inches to throw you all off a bit) with the addition of a piece that folds forward when the back seats are folded down and a panel that slides out, from the rear, to extend the surface space. This would serve as an extended bed area, in case of bad weather or what not and a tent isn't the best option, but also as a work space area. I hope this makes sense...

G'Day Peter - welcome!

Here's more food for thought - I just installed one of these (1000 Pro SE) in my Triton and would love to see one used in a Subie! Would be easy to get to the spare! https://www.bedslide.com/

My storage system is abut less refined than these. I found two big black tubs at bindings that fit side my side in the back. Just pull them out to get to the spare. Also make a great seat while changing the wheel. Walt sits on the back seat with cooking and pantry stuff on the other. Roof racks for rent etc. might buy a tool box for the roof for recoveries gear.

Gidday All

I'm interested in how to go about this, and kitting out my trailer as well.

We have picked up a Subaru deep boot liner along with SWMBO's new Fox (SH). However it has been very cold and pissing down rain here for the best part of this week, so haven't really felt like checking out if it fits in my Fox (SG) or not yet. Maybe at the w/e.

@Pecky,

Hi there I know it has been a while and unsure if you are still on the forum but I really like your build as I am dead broke and do not want it to weigh too much, wondering how you secured it all down and if theres anymore tips and tricks you could provide?

Regards
Zac
