Venom, Dulagarl, myself & Rick the gearbox guy, lol, met at Reefton Pub anticipating a difficult drive on 2 Mile Track, a steep, rutted, clay track. It was much more rutted than the last time I looked at it but we made down then back up fine

We then drove around a bit looking for more tracks. Along the Yankee Jim Fireline we found a mineshaft dug straight into the side of the mountain.

Our resident geologist found a few seams, unfortunately not gold bearing lol :iconwink:

This was a nice spot for lunch, then back into it

Some fourbies we ran into thought we were very unprepared, esp with Venom's Liberty looking like a Mum's shopping trolley, very much a sleeper lol :rotfl:

We drove around for a while on easy tracks, except for one track we edged down with ruts almost 2' deep. I do NOT want to drive back up that one lol

Eventually we made it to SM Fireline, where we found a nice deep boghole & this...

Venom & Rick coming back down:

Did you try this steep hill NachaLuva ?

When slipping back like Venom did, I use the handbrake so I don't need to brake as hard with the foot and it reduces the front wheel slip, better for keeping adherence.

No, dont have the grip they do. I need a better offroad gearbox with all the goodies! :lildevil:

I was just thinking that... It would free up the front wheel to keep the steering :iconwink:

Looks like you guys really had a ball :raz:

BTW I've also fixed your pic links too mate :iconwink:

Regards
Mr Turbo

It was a great trip with a bit of everything :lildevil:

I did have a GoPro on the front bumper for the 2 Mile Tr climb but it was knocked off & must have copped a decent hit cos the SD card half popped out. So unfortunately it didnt save the vid it recorded :(

Oh well, we'll have to go back & do it again lol :monkeydance:

BTW, why didnt the pics work properly?

Thanks for doing that, Mr T.

I told NL that I would check this out this afternoon, then promptly got interrupted and completely forgot it altogether :(. Sorry, NL.

BTW, that track really does look like a nasty sump buster ...

Lol, no probs :iconwink:

Picking a good line was essential, I did NOT want to drop a wheel in those ruts! :rotfl:

^ Why not?

They aren't as big as some corrugations I have seen ... :rotfl:.

Just kidding.
They sure look pretty savage!
I wouldn't want to take Roo2 anywhere near them.

Looks super cool, would be keen to see how my box would fair on a climb like this. Have only tried it in sand where it was great however would be interesting to see how my inferior LSD's go.

I'd love to see it in action too :lildevil:

What diffs do you have?

Torsen front, Dccd centre, viscous rear. Seemed to work awesome in the sand and the car went a lot further than a few heavies on the trip. However I think it will be a different story on the bush tracks.

That'll work fine. You just need to dab the brakes if you lift a wheel so the Torsen sends torque to the wheel with grip

Sweet videos. I would have loved to have a crack at that hill. Was interesting watching Venom slide backwards with no steering....

I just watched that video of Venom sliding backwards down the hill and thought why are the front wheels sliding? Shouldnt the DCCD have locked the front and rear so that they turn at the same rate? From what I can see both front wheels are sliding and both back wheels are turning.
