Another SF vs SG strut thread (sry Dura)

I had SLS with +30 Dobinsons and they were very harsh and far too high…but I don't know if it was only because of the springs or because of the springs/SLS setup. Went back with the OEM springs/SLS and the ride was very nice for years.
 
Yeah, some people don't like raised springs because its a very firm ride, some think harsh. You find the springs do soften up a bit but it sure is firm! Good handling though :biggrin:
 
You don't put raised springs on SLS struts. SLS struts are not the same design or function as conventional struts and support the weight of the car. They jack the rear up to the correct height as you bounce along the road (if in working order).
In a conventional strut spring set up, the springs hold up the rear and the struts provide the dampening. With SLS the struts hold the rear up not the springs hence when the SLS fails the rear sags. Add raised / heavy duty springs and the dynamics are all wrong and you won't have proper dampening.
The Kings catalogue specifically states that the SLS strut must be replaced with a conventional KYB.
