Hey guys, I've called all the 4X4 shops I can find on Google, but noone is willing to do themods I'm after, who do you guys use?

Front and rear bar with jerry can holder integrated side steps and sill protection, I've got cash but noone will do it

Try Kevin Hay at Hayfab, he does a lot of custom work, usually for "proper" 4wds but I'm sure if you talked nicely and showed enough determination he'd be able to work something out with you.
He also operates through Mumford's Customs
I'll make sure i add you to the 4x4ing Perth FB group, contact them off there and you'll probably get a discount/better quote.
You should be able to find them both on Facebook.
I'm sure you've already thought of it but anyone doing this sort of thing will need to have the car in for at least a day to inspect/design/build the stuff you're after, especially the sidesteps :poke:
Good luck :)

Irvin/ subaextreme are your best and probably only options. Any other place will likely be worse quality and far more expensive.
Suba/irvin have already done the r&d versus someone who will charge days of labour just to design the thing then more to actually build it + materials.

Other places really cant make make any money out of a once off without slogging you with the entire cost of r&d + manufacture. That is why no one will do it.

I know they have been suggested before, but being realistic they are the only viable options I can see. Also consider that these companies bars are ADR compliant so fully legal, while any sort of custom job is illegal/ yellow stickerable and may void insurance. Just more food for thought.

I believe there is a pajero? snorkel that is close to fitting that just needs to be bended slightly and mounted. I'm sure if you provided them one of these and said what needs to be done they may consider it. Im not too sure on the details of this though.

I keep hearing, "we'll just look at this step by step on the forum and give you a call tomorrow" looks like I'm doing it myself :-\

I have to agree with your comments here, David. Specially the bit about insurance. If your car isn't roadworthy (i.e. ADR compliant, among other things), your insurer has an instant get out of jail free clause. You lose ... :(.

Yeah, I know it'll void my insurance, but due to my work being so close to my house; (900m) my forester has been relegated to my weekend fun car, so a good 50% of it's use will be offroad anyway

The subaxtreme look good

You get your jerry can holder on the back, shouldn't be too difficult to swap the wheel carrier for for a 2nd Jerry can, the only thing you don't get is the side step.

What do you think Twinklz?

They look awesome, except I'm on the wrong side of Australia

I was looking at having someone build me something, then i looked at doing it myself, then i decided not to bother. All the options the weights on the front end is crap. I'm not convinced the extra approach/departure angle would be worth it either

I'm still building a rear wheel carrier, I'll see if i can find the adr doc but they don't need much to make them complaint just not have sharp protrusions

Painful though it might be to write off one's own car, repairing a Roller, BMW 7 series or the like could bankrupt you ... Last time I priced a D/S door for a Rolls Royce it was around $2,500. Doesn't seem like much, until I tell you that it was in about 1974 ...

It is of the utmost importance that you don't do anything to or with your car that will void your comprehensive insurance or TPPD insurance.
Defect notices can be fixed.
Bankruptcy is downright painful.

Most of our insurance premiums are actually calculated on the cost of the damage to a third party's vehicle, rather than the cost of the damage to our own.

Interestingly, my trailer insurance (currently insured for $3,500) will be about $10 less when the tent has been fitted, for an insured sum of around $3,000 more. Apparently camper trailers are much less likely to be involved in accidents than plain old box trailers, so the premiums are about half as much ...

I would have thought the cost of trucking them over would have been cheaper than paying someone to custom build it, but I might be wrong. I wonder how Stilson got his ...

The cheapest option would be doing it yourself and them getting it made compliant.

Looks like I'm gonna have to make them myself

But once again I think we've strayed way of topic with tridden being the only one who answered the original question. Let us know what happens with those guys.
