To build a 100hp reliable aircooled engine will cost $5000 in parts alone, I should be able to convert and engineer this for that price.

They're 930 style flanges. My wheels are custom 7" rims welded onto cut stock vw 4 stud centres. Shaft compatibility really comes down to the stub axes I think?

I drive with stock beetle irs gearbox and axles. With no problems. A bus box is much stronger than a beetle box
Important is that the your flywheel has a centerbearing . If not than you will kill the gearbox in a week. Believe me, i did that personaly..:redface:

Thanks Casper, I'll go with the standard type 2 flanges I think.

Transaxle input shaft is supported by a sealed ball race. Thanks for the heads up though and keep throwing this stuff at me.

Disc front, drum rear at least for now... I need to pick up the superbug rear end today or tomorow so it might have rear disks on it.

Thanks for your help Taza, was a tight squeeze in the van.

Now to figure out if it's best to replace the whole torsion bar assembly or leave mine and weld all the brackets to it.

Found IRS conversion mounts for $29, guess that answers that question!

Man, going through their store I want just about everything they sell.

Stud conversion set to get rid of the stupid wheel bolts, deck lid standoff kit, Jamar shifter box, extended control arms, steering brake, side mirrors...

All that is about $800US.

Oh and check out the tires! Set of 4 paddle tyres anyone?

Luckily I just sold my 260Z so I have space in my shed for a project and a little spare change even if my mrs has pretty much spent it before I have it in my hand.

RJES conversion bellhousing and 228mm vw clutch landed.

Still trying to source a trans mounting kit and axles.
Pretty sure I'm going to fit a 2" body lift to gain a bit more room in the back.

Looking so good!, what look are you after? Baja, callook euro or something else?

why don't you place the fire wall foreward? That makes enough room for the tranny and is less work. Maybe you can place the radiator above the tranny then. Are you mounting the tranny with rubbers or solid?

Softmount trans strap kit.

Going for the classic look with full brightwork, eyelids and hubcaps and whitewalls. So it really throws people off.

Firewall will slope up to the rear window allowing for the rad and avoiding the need to reverse the intake manifold.
