2010 XT Subaru Forester Project

Long term reader of the forum but have never really got around to posting anything on my Current Subaru Project. Probably should have done it as I went along but anyhow this is roughly the finished product.

Car is mainly used for general driving, bit of offroad, towing trailer and my dirtbike everywhere

External Mods;
Underbonnet Bushranger Compressor with Auto Compressor Controller

Larger Yokohama All Terrain AT/S Tyres

Dual Battery in rear footwell. Not a lot of room in general underbonnet with Forester, toyed with putting it in Spare wheel well but would be in the way should you need to get it out and I use that area to store camping accessories. This position allows use of power for phone charging etc for rear passenger, easy checking of battery charge status and easy access for powering fridge. Still allows you to cart 2 - 3 ppl comfortably and full use of arm rests and cup holders.

CTEK Regular hidden in cut out in rear of Forester

Folder down smaller side of split fold rear for Fridge, sits in fairly snug so doesn't move around much.

Easy Access to Fridge External due to side opening lid of Waeco, super efficient motor plus the CTEK using Solar and Alternator powers fridge/Lighting for length

ProClip US Pillar mount keeps phone in decent position and ran hidden cables to centre console to get power and input into deck for tunes. Phone fits even in Lifeproof Case

hey NachaLuva.... yeh its pretty much mint for camping and it's offroad capabilities are quite reasonable considering onroad it drives jus like a car.

trying to remember the tyre size now.... they are the biggest that will fit in the guards with the standard rims. 225/60/17 from memory

Your XT is looking fantastic tuckerman :)
Great mods, together with very neat 'n' clean installs too

Well done :raz:

Mr Turbo

Thanks mate, yeh try to keep it as factory lookn as possible. Will post up the underbonnet compressor stuff when I get home from work on the weekend, custom bracket etc is also pretty neat :raz:

Ok so got around to taking those final modification photos.

MRT Brake Bracket

Probably the most disappointing part of the factory Forester package is the brakes, they seem a little under done considering the car has reasonable acceleration and isn't exactly the lightest vehicle. I changed the pads out for MRT Sport pads and replaced the fluid with high end ELF gear and added the MRT Support bracket. This does give the pedal a lot more solid feel and definitely brakes better than standard especially in repeat braking scenarios and considering most of the time I use this car I am towing a trailer thats a good thing.

Underbonnet Compressor Mount

UnderbonnetCompressorMount.jpg

This is a pretty neat install of a bushranger compressor, most of the standard handle etc components removed and slight re routing of a couple of underbonnet hoses. The compressor has no problems dealing with the tyres on the Forester and I have used it recently on a mates Defender with far larger tyres and it pumped those up quickly also. I carry a 20m hose under the drivers seat with a custom made swivel clip on the end that connects straight to the top of the compressor.

Compressor Controller

These are a little custom made unit by a friend of mine. You set a PSI like you would @ the Fuel Station Compressors, plug the hose into the tyres and it automatically cuts off once it pumps them to your set PSI :raz:
